📍FACT CHECK on Tiger/German Road NH Status in MANIPUR📍

The Chief Engineer of PWD ( Public Works Department, Manipur) has clarified that PWD has NOT recommended or proposed upgrading the so-called Tiger/German Road to National Highway (NH) status.

-Any NH upgrade can only happen after the State Government officially recommends it to @MORTHIndia (Ministry of Road Transport & Highways).

-PWD has not sent any such recommendation, nor has it asked the concerned department to do so.

-Even if any MLA or civil society organisation sent a proposal for upgrading the particular road to the status of a National Highway, the same proposal would be referred back to the regional office located at Guwahati and the regional office would seek a report on the proposal from the State PWD.

Who is the real player behind?
Can a proposal for National Highway status bypass the State Government and PWD? An urgent and transparent investigation is the need of the hour.
