@mirkel@NathanJRobinson@HonestReporting@DropSiteNews They don't do that. When they're citing claims by these groups they say whether or not DropSite could confirm the information like videos or pictures same as with US claims. And we should want to know what those forces claim, that's good journalism.
@ATLSPORTSHUB@cockamaymee@ajlamesa@GovKemp Not private, its an independent regional government agency with its board including folks appointed from Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, and city of Atlanta.
Of course Kemp wouldn't want to get involved because it would mean the state would have to add funding the MARTA to gain a role.
Tariff declines (the 10% replacement tariffs do seem less than the IEEPA ones) and refund checks getting sent out aligning with increased job growth plus BBB tax cuts with little-to-no overall spending drops (maybe increases given wars) means fiscal is pushing for a hot economy.
@HydroFoundry@oh_HOLMES the crazy slowiness of getting the gates finished. MARTA spends months closing off sections with no activity actually building the gates and having to leave wide open entrances with no fares. Politicians are trying to push "cops, cops, cops" when they should be
@HydroFoundry@oh_HOLMES North Springs/Airport don't really make much sense to have cops (the former due to lower usage the latter because Airport security is right there anyways). But I live near Midtown and have seen cops there, which mostly feels like a waste since its one of the safer parts of town
@HydroFoundry@oh_HOLMES I see them frequently at stations I go to regularly at Midtown, Peachtree Center, Five Points, Decatur, Lindbergh, and Edgewood-Candler Park. The times I don't see them are outer stations I visit like Dunwoody. What stations are you going to where you don't see them?
@CrudeCO77@JavierBlas@opinion Yeah that's what I said. But what's important to remember is this is BEFORE any sustained government efforts for demand destruction. They're choosing to drain more than they necessarily need to given a concentrated campaign.
@registerofdecay@sam_d_1995 If you had evidence bike lanes increased time spent waiting in traffic you'd be answering that rather than rhetorically asking the question
@CrudeCO77@JavierBlas@opinion At this degree of drop? Definitely. But reporting is already out that demand dropped 1.5 mb/d despite the supply releases and even some price controls. What this kind of looks like is China bailing out the oil industry from more extreme and possibly long term demand destruction.
@barely_th3re noone talks about the bus trips cancelled or even more curtailed weekend service. Causing a ridership drop and a few more folks getting in crashes and dying on the roads. I hate how this rare tragedy turns into a "must fix now" cause rather than common tragedies that get no press
@barely_th3re I can see what happens now. MARTA redirects operational funds more towards "safety", maybe the state gets some photo opps with state patrol guys going on MARTA, everyone declares victory in 6 months when there's not another stabbing even though that would've happened anyways, and
