You are missing the point Priyanka ji! The point is not about choice of the Jauhar committing women. They faced a tragedy and made a tough choice. The point is what are we choosing to glorify? That a woman’s chastity is more valuable than her life?? It’s a simple question. Does a rape survivor not deserve to live after rape???

Just came across this post from @zairawasimmm. She is upset that Waqf board in Kashmir participated or celebrated or was part of Independence Day celebrations. She cannot understand if Waqf board is mean to serve Islamic interests in Kashmir then why would it be part of celebrations that celebrate India and joy it is to be living and breathing in Independent India. I agree with Zaira. Islam does not recognize nationalism or borders or sacred geography. Islam understands one ummah and therefore it does not make sense for Waqf to be part of celebrations for India. However, I have a question for Zaira: She says Kashmir should look back at its ‘past’. Which past is she referring to? Where does history begin for Zaira? Shah Hamdan? - he was not a Kashmiri, he came from Central Asia. Bulbul Shah? Again not a Kashmiri. Came from somewhere in Central Asia. Shamsuddin Araqi? He also is an outsider who came from Iran? None of them Kashmiri. Should Kashmir then look at Acharya Abhinavgupt? Maharaja Lalitaditya Muktapida? Lalleshwari? Kalhana? Panini? Sharang Dev? Now these are Kashmiris who are part of Kashmir’s glorious intellectual past and for them spirituality was deeply tied to the sacred geography that is Kashmir. They would have no problem celebrating Independence Day. So @zairawasimmm how far in the past are you willing to go? Because unfortunately for you Abhinavgupt and Kalhana’s progeny is still alive to remind you this with every breath you take.
