Tomorrow/ Tuesday 4/23 is the last day to provide feedback to Senator Sanders #LongCOVID Moonshot proposal. We ask that you provide feedback asap to [email protected]
C19LAP's Major Feedback to Echo:
- $1B annually for research alone is insufficient, and Long COVID requires a more robust response to respond to the scale and heterogeneity of Long COVID.
- The bill mentions public and clinician education, but does not allocate any specific amount for this, and the money for this would be coming out of the already insufficient $1B for research.
C19LAP is calling for a minimum of $3 billion dollars annually for Long COVID research, and another $500 million annually for public and clinician education, for a total of $3.5 billion dollars annually over the next decade. This is a significant compromise to our initial funding request which can be found at https://t.co/LmzY6ozxDc.
We are incredibly grateful to Senator Sanders for being a champion for the Long COVID community, and fully recognize the politically charged, anti-COVID funding environment. However, the implications of not adequately funding the response to Long COVID is devastating, irreversible, and will pose systemic consequences for generations. We need more.
