Saya turut berkesempatan mengetuai delegasi Malaysia untuk mengadakan pertemuan dengan Presiden Majlis Eropah, Charles Michel dan delegasinya.

Pertemuan ini saya gunakan untuk memperkukuhkan hubungan dua hala antara Malaysia dan Kesatuan Eropah (EU), selain kami turut bertukar pandangan terkait perkembangan geopolitik serantau dan antarabangsa.

Kami antara lain sepakat untuk berusaha mempertingkatkan kerjasama strategik ASEAN-EU, khususnya sewaktu Malaysia mempengerusikan ASEAN tahun depan.

Saya juga menyatakan hasrat Malaysia untuk meneruskan perbincangan terkait perjanjian perdagangan bebas (FTA) Malaysia-EU, selain menyatakan beberapa pandangan berhubung Peraturan Bebas Penebangan Hutan EU (EUDR) yang memberi kesan langsung kepada industri sawit negara.

I led the Malaysian delegation in a meeting with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, where we focused on strengthening Malaysia-EU bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international geopolitical developments.

We agreed on the need to enhance ASEAN-EU strategic cooperation, particularly as Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship next year.

I also conveyed Malaysia’s intention to continue discussions on the Malaysia-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and shared our perspectives on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which directly impacts our palm oil industry.
