In summary, the overarching message was clear, that the WTO must adapt, remain inclusive, and continue to provide a rules-based framework for global trade, even in the face of significant challenges.
While acknowledging the challenges face by multilateral trade, it was also noted that 72% of world goods trade still operates under the WTO terms, demonstrating the system's core stability.
In addition, many other interesting sessions were organised focusing on how a digitalised trading system can improve living standards and create jobs, as well as explored on the current global trade situation.
The Forum started with the launch of the ‘World Trade Report 2025’, which examined the complex and fast-evolving relationship between AI and international trade, and explored how these forces can shape inclusive growth.
