I now understand what the guy behind the moral majority felt when he wrote after Clinton's impeachment 'I no longer believe there is a moral majority in America.'
Yeah, same buddy, just with different viewpoints as our baseline.
Never-Trumper opposition sorted into basically two groups - total Trump capitulation, and (mostly) mainstream lib. It’s very hard to live your life in between ideological blocs and eventually you just become your environment.
@thought_less_@josiah_wampfler@mkerekes714@HeerJeet I would be more sympathetic if I hadn't spent years living on $15k, and now make just above the median income living in a 1 bedroom with a roommate.
Like literally, the problem is not the economy.
Btw, anyone telling you that 63% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck is full of shit.
They got that statistic from here, and just applied it to everyone across the board.
Yeah, if you make under 25k, below the median income, life's hard!
Now people are complaining that Liz Cheney campaigning for Harris was a mistake.
Soon Harris will be blamed for accepting endorsements from Trump's Cabinet.
At some point we must come to terms with the harsh reality that half the country sees America very differently than us.
@MaesterDepot@HeerJeet it went up 12.1% since 2022, that's true.
the population of the US is 335,893,238.
You're saying the entire economy is based on what .1% of the people in it are going through?
@MaesterDepot@HeerJeet You're claiming that the ENTIRE ECONOMY is made up of people making 20k a year. You're full of shit.
Also, the economy GREW at 4% due to CONSUMER SPENDING.
People have never spent more on things they don't need!
@MaesterDepot@HeerJeet That's literally not true. At all.
Wages are not stagnant. They grew the most over the past four years due to labor shocks. Housing is up because rates are down so more people borrow money to buy homes, decreasing supply. Food and gas are at their lowest levels in years.
@LikeAPhoenician@HeerJeet Okay, so give me ONE METRIC by which people are worse off? Not vibes, a metric! something ACTIONABLE.
Because otherwise you're going to get like 10% unemployment to crush demand to crush inflation with no safety net, because that's how you crush prices.
@LikeAPhoenician@HeerJeet Of course they caused inflation!
If you give people more money, they will spend it, shrinking the amount of goods and increasing the price due to scarcity. That's how economics works.
The economy IS great, by every objective metric.
@josiah_wampfler@mkerekes714@HeerJeet Bro I live in a 1 bedroom on 1099 pay for like 40k a year. I get it.
But guess what? Rent always goes up! Especially for long term tenants and in growing areas because there is more competition!
that's actually a sign the economy is good!
