🧵 Caught between a seemingly absent Syrian government and a growing Israeli presence, Mount Hermon’s Druze villages are waiting for a clarity neither Damascus nor Tel Aviv seems willing to provide.

My latest for @SyriaTransition. On tendency among pro-govt observers & analysts to brush aside Suwayda' massacres & divert conversation towards: 'Hijri is the real villain', with talking points that have some validity but frequently veer into exaggeration https://t.co/Ygnjwc3glW
The ASDF last updated its Facebook page (https://t.co/oPyplAsnfz) in March 2025 and was last mentioned in the news (https://t.co/xcFtQV3CYI) in April 2025. So a lifespan of 4 months. Not very long, but I've seen shorter. (End)
Here's another 🧵 on a political alliance in #Syria, this time one that lasted a few months: the Alliance for the Support of Democracy and Freedoms, formed in January 2025.
It left the ASDF less than a month after the latter's formation, citing disagreement on how to view the Syrian Transitional Government. The Third Independent Movement wanted to give the STG a chance and felt the other ASDF members were overly-critical. https://t.co/1XGTMBWWTZ
Overall, the number of groups (and spectrum of beliefs) involved in the Syrian Democratic Alliance is smaller than that of Tamasuk (with whom the SDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February, see https://t.co/0HRc3LujZ2), but this has allowed it a more coherent platform.
