@voyagerav @Newyorkez @Int_Machines The bigger issue is the autonomous antenna switch if it detects a communications issue. Considering two of the antennas are pointing at the ground, this is giving them brief windows to get and send data when the upright antennas are active. It needs new instructions basically.

@saxushu @Erudite_TWR When cameras are used it's generally positioned to monitor the exterior of the satellite to see things like external damage, separation of stages, etc. Rarely to take vanity pictures. Extra weight means more fuel for thrust.

@saxushu @Erudite_TWR And for good reason. It takes a hell of a lot more processing to scrape usable data from an image. What you need are sensors to collect data necessary to operations - often autonomously. The communications lag makes doing these things remotely based on visual imagery impossible.

@unicornflyers @SpaceTechLab It actually makes perfect sense. The nav system was supposed to signal to the EagleCam when to deploy during descent. Due to the unexpected failure and software update to switch to the alternate sensor, they didn't have time to vet and enable the deployment system for EagleCam.

You won't change minds that have been made up but you may keep more people from falling in.

The inherent (and important) lack of absolute certainty in science is easily exploited by the dishonest and you'll only sway the people who basically already understand that.
