President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah departs from Cape Town, South Africa, to Namibia following her participation in the 9th Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The summit, among others, reflected on the regional and global developments that have an impact on the SACU economic agenda such as the changing global trade climate and the rise in protectionist measures.

The Summit also considered a Report from the SACU Council of Ministers and endorsed the recommendations emanating from the SACU Ministerial Retreat held on the 24th of June 2026.

Additionally, the Summit underscored the need for sustained and close cooperation among SACU Member States in responding to the economic challenges posed by current global developments, including through economic diversification and the development of regional value chains.
