📢Open postdoc position in Bayesian inference for cell biology applications at Uppsala University, Sweden. 2 years’ salary. Apply before April 29th. The selected candidate will work with @hamiscalculated@MansMeg@Dagim26 (🧵1/6)
The details and results of the clinical trial are here
https://t.co/tVDU78tHtY --It has been an absolute treat using mathematics to (hopefully) increase our understanding of HIV-1 broadly neutralizing antibodies
As a postdoc @LosAlamosNatLab, I had this fuzzy hope to use mathematical modelling in support of a clinical trial of HIV-1 treatments. I was very lucky to see that happen a few years ago; the mathematical details of that work are now out @PLOSCompBiol https://t.co/Q6GI9UwVZ2
Even better, together with @a13xbrowning, @ChiaraVilla12, and @PhilipMaini, we spent the week thinking about the dynamics of phenotypic resistance to targeted anti-cancer therapies.
It was an incredibly fun week thinking about hard problems with with great collaborators.
We were lucky to have an exceptional few days of mathematical biology last week @UniversityLeeds; two fantastic seminars from @hamiscalculated and @adrianne_jenner on computational approaches to understand spatial and intra-patient heterogeneity in cancer #MathOnco
In my everyday life, I'm often confused about the link between fit model parameters and experimental data. This recent paper in @SMB_MathBiology is my first step towards trying to puzzle my way through this relationship https://t.co/UzxWLqsSMG
It's all tied together by numerical continuation and offers a perspective of how best-fit parameters evolve as a function of experimental data and using this point of view to inform experimental design.
Very excited to share the programme for our @LondMathSoc workshop on #Mathematics of delayed phenomena next week. Look forward to welcoming all participants @NorthumbriaUni in #newcastle. Anyone interested welcome. Talks will be streamed, please get in touch to attend remotely.
Wonderful week surrounded by incredible people and so-so views. Grateful to @adrianne_jenner & @lab_craig for organizing and all the participants/new friends for the conversations, laughs, and new ideas
@mathsleedsuni@beeshtylla@lab_craig More information on projects, ideas, opportunities as I learn how to not get run over when crossing the street and remember the S on the end of maths
The past 5 days have been a whirlwind, but I'm very excited start a lecturer (~assistant prof) position @mathsleedsuni. I wouldn't be here without all the wonderful mentorship and collaboration @beeshtylla@lab_craig (and many, many others) #AcademicTwitter#MathOnco
Saturday morning made infinitely better by the first letter from my @LettersPreSci pen-pal! She loves Nirvana, books, math, and the LA dodgers. I can’t wait to talk music, science careers, and if “science is ever boring” with her!
@TyrelStokes Congratulations! This is super exciting and I’m a phone call away for intramural hockey league games. Hopefully your office has cleaner windows than #Burnside
