@Jeffdumi@Bwings23@ChadBrendel Buddy this isn’t hard. Just take some time and find out the real story. You tech blowhards are just eating up an exaggerated narrative to try and put responsibility on UC.
According to NCAA filing Friday, Brendan Sorsby triggered a ProhiBet alert at Cincinnati in 2024. (Big 12 has a ProhiBet partnership.)
The alert denied him access to a betting platform, & he was interviewed by the school’s compliance office before resolving in ProhiBet’s system.
@yuggs513 State is just an artificial border to me. KC had the whole MO/KS debate.
It’s the idea that a stadium is outside the city that irks me. Yeah money nonsense/whatnot, but fundamentally it bothers me about sports. Hate losing that charm. Will hurt when inevitably it happens here.
@yuggs513 Just realized you said Florence. That’s a better example. My dumb brain read that and thought of Covington.
Second paragraph sums up my thoughts though.
@yuggs513 This would be like the bengals moving to Mason. Personally I wouldn’t like that
I personally think having sports stadiums outside of their city limits is dumb. Part of the wonder as a kid for me going to games was going to the city and feeling in awe. It was a special experience
@DudyNobleField@BPs_on_Ice@DWadeStadium@GoBearcatsBASE You’ve never even hosted the college World Series. In your entire existence. Ever. Dominant performance from Omaha though.
So much for being a great stadium. Not bad for the off brand
minor leagues though. When is dollar beer night and where is the bat dog?
@DWadeStadium@BPs_on_Ice@GoBearcatsBASE A football account talking smack? We have as many playoff appearances as you have conference championships. You’ve only been trying for 94 years though, so I’m sure you’ll luck will change soon.
@spursttu@IncompChecker@Williams_Justin The prohibet app stopped him from betting. That was what UC knew about. They interviewed him and told him what was and wasn’t allowed. No NCAA violation occurred based on what was flagged.
@spursttu@Williams_Justin Their obligation to the athlete once they found out is to sit him down and tell him what’s allowed and what’s not. They interviewed him in the compliance office and then moved on. It’s not UC’s fault Sorsby was a degenerate gambler.
@Jimmy_Dfrom903@Williams_Justin Probably because Cincinnati fulfilled their obligation by interviewing him.
The system alerted and blocked his wagers. UC met with him and did their part.
@spursttu@Williams_Justin lol at Texas Tech suing UC. What obligation would UC possibly have for a player that Tech is recruiting to transfer?
It’s not UCs fault Tech didn’t do their due diligence.
NEWS: The NCAA was initially tipped off to Brendan Sorsby's gambling by an online sportsbook, after the sportsbook had been informed by law enforcement, according to court docs filed Friday in Sorsby's lawsuit vs the NCAA.
More details coming soon via @TheAthletic.
@allencorbin Justin Williams already reported that the timing was a coincidence and filing a DOA motion to dismiss which every defendant tries in a civil suit means nothing to his chances in that lawsuit.
I can’t believe Tech fans bought that nonsense.
