Political debate seems to be rooted in an alternate reality. You wouldn’t know it but we have some of the cheapest supermarkets in the developed world, flatter wages than the USSR, the most progressive tax system in the OECD & one of the highest %s of social housing in the world.
"The Numerical Reasoning Test (NRT) was removed due to evidence of the test having adverse impact on candidate diversity."
Jaw dropping admission.
It is an utterly mind numbingly absurd idea that differential outcomes between broad groups can only be explained by racial discrimination.
This is like academic institutions dumbing down entrance tests to achieve greater diversity, only to then move from complaining about access to suddenly complaining about the attainment gap when at university.
It's absurd.
Keir Starmer was useless as PM because he & his MPs had no actual concept (either right or wrong) about how to address the UK's problems other than the fantasy they were personally more managerially skilled & of higher integrity (both false) & the idea "sPenD MorE mONeY" = growth
Farage's tone this morning aside, there's actually very little practical difference between Reform and the Conservatives on this, essentially demanding a return to race-blind 1990s policing to save liberalism from progressive excess
“Pretty ironic for a BRITISH person to complain about mass immigration!”
Actually it’s not because my political beliefs are motivated by self interest not some kind of bizarre obligation to supposedly restore karmic balance.
About a decade ago, a theory emerged:
If men do more of the housework and child care, fertility rates will rise!
Men have been doing increasingly large shares of the housework and child care.
Fertility is lower than ever.
On the cover of this week's @NewStatesman: Not the manosphere, but the femosphere?
Gen-z women are in revolt against a country they don't like and don't think works for them.
Thanks to @Will___lloyd for commissioning new research on angry young women @emilylawford 🧵👇
The absolute worst thing about the EU/Schengen is you only need one lunatic member state to do something like this and then it becomes everybody's problem.
@s8mb The student loan should simply be more like a normal loan.
Your interest rate shouldn’t go up when you earn more. High earners have enough disincentives already.
If Labour truly believes Farage to be a fascist, a man 10 points ahead in the polls, I'd suggest they don't hand him on a platter:
- Sweeping powers to ban freedom of speech online
- Legal proceedings with jury trials scrapped
- Legal precedent for scrapping elections
This is the danger of the lies spread by Farage, Reform, GB News etc.
Immigration is actually falling massively in the UK yet the public think the opposite.
