At @SchoolHouseConn we know how critical housing stability is to ensuring educational success, especially for children and youth experiencing homelessness. We're proud to support this legislation and applaud @RepSherrill's leadership on this issue. https://t.co/drSAc27vhy
We can’t make New Jersey more affordable without making housing more affordable.
That’s why I introduced new legislation to lower housing costs by providing federal tax credits to projects that repurpose commercial and office space to build more housing.

🚨 New @HUDgov data reveal sharp increases in family and youth #homelessness for the 2nd consecutive year, with the largest increases among families with children (39.4%) & unaccompanied youth (10%). This data doesn't paint the full picture. Our analysis: https://t.co/jCrnkRyHHE
As you may know, I have strong feelings on this process and how 84% of homeless children and youth identified by public schools are completely overlooked. Check out @SchoolHouseConn 's latest take on the new data. https://t.co/f5x6ryV6Ot
HUD’s data are based on a “Point-in-Time (PIT)” count. That count is restricted to people in shelters, transitional housing, or outside on a single night in January. But most families and youth who are homeless do not stay in shelters, transitional housing, or outside.
Amidst deeply partisan divides, we made progress in 2024 to strengthen federal policies and resources for children, youth, and families experiencing #homelessness. See all that happened as a result of our 2024 federal policy advocacy 👉 https://t.co/tHqQvh18tT
GOOD NEWS: The Senate unanimously passed my bipartisan resolution designating November 2024 as National Homeless Children and Youth Awareness Month. It is more important than ever that we work together to address this heartbreaking issue. MORE: https://t.co/zZGxSjnuh6
If you’re more concerned about a trans person using a certain bathroom than an underage sex trafficker becoming the country’s top law enforcement officer - you have a lot of reevaluating to do in your life.
Huge thanks to @RepBarragan (CA-44) for leading 56 Congress members in a letter requesting Dir. of the Office of @headstartgov Khari Gavin to increase efforts to connect children and families experiencing #homelessness to federal #HeadStart programs. ➡️ https://t.co/WNxP2l9qIz
Today marks the closing of one chapter, but if we work together, we can open a new one where every policymaker and school leader understands that there can be no equity in education or lasting solutions to homelessness without adequate targeted resources. https://t.co/EmHkbstNOG
Tuesday, September 10th is the Delaware primary election. The First State takes civic duty seriously. I attended the @YWCA Delaware Gubernatorial Forum tonight. It was clear that Bethany Hall-Long is ready for Day 1! I hope you’ll join me in supporting her next week and in Nov!
AASA’s trusted partner, @SchoolHouseConn, just released a new 2-pager that contains a great checklist of what every LEA who has money left to spend should consider doing w/ ARP funds for homeless students. On the blog. https://t.co/uNPSH4GiAB
