Female EE in UK, mother to sons w MEng. Fervently curious about HPC,chips
+ emerging tech & Techies who build the future. IEEE WiE + Camb + Lon Industry+Cloud
@tomgkelly@paultoo Since you ask both mother and son are dead. Susan Woznicki died from lung cancer two years ago and her son died of an overdose months before, he had just started at Berkeley.
@karlfreund My son's girlfriend is a CS graduate who soon returns to uni to study PhD in Quantum computing. I admire engineers taking a career risk to go deep in such subjects.
@IanCutress My husband is analog, I'm digital tho automotive requires both to advance.
I'm delighted to find the Resilient AI Supercomputing Networking paper on Vik's feed esp as my Intel friend is named.
I'm enjoying your work too, is pace less frenetic now?
@Underfox3 So many advances have been taken for granted.
Chip/system packaging & networking are two particular where I remain fascinated by progress. Many leaders comment on the pace of hardware development today.
I'm glad to see electronics builders' optimism now because we know....
@IanCutress In my experience this is a miserable situation.
Good to see harassment being addressed, I try to support isolated WiE. Defend SA's reputation
It is horrible to engage lawyers as process often taints any successful conclusion.
Glad this is open (gags awful), values & trust matter.
For ppl interested in AI & Sustainability this livestream is a tribute to Prof Sir David MacKay, Cambridge fmr UK DoE Govt C. Scientific Advisor. So memorable for wit & wisdom on Energy policy & use of data

I'm watching the Livestream of a Cambridge conference to commemorate Sir David MacKay author of Sustainable Energy Without the Hot Air. Interesting speakers on Climate & other topics. He was inspiring, provocative & prescient.

@haynesdeborah Defence Industrial Strategy 2005 discussed "sovereign capability" & national security. Reliance on US prime contractors was a risk, we must train British engineers to maintain equipment we paid for.
What happened?
Blair's TBI admits Left's attitude to military must change.
@sallywf@DavidBennett__ I thought the Suzuka F1 would be the top story from Japan this week but I'm delighted to see this.
Good Luck David, Impressive launch.
@sallywf@danfiru@nvidia I watched the LexF interview, enjoyed the credit Jensen gave to Groq & OpenClaw. His prescience on trends is incredible making your attendance at the top industry /academic events more interesting than ever.
.
@FelixCLC_ The research suggests they are 'manipulating atoms'.
The GTC keynote ref'd to applications in devt of molecules, mechanical systems etc plus physics EDA startups.
Tho skilled trades in dc building getting well paid now.
@sallywf That's one to print to put on your wall/fridge.
Did I spot you during the Keynote? I'm always curious about who is there cf OFC or other events.
I saw Alex Kendall in the pre-event post about AVs.
Were many others fr 17 UK companies Nvidia invested in last year there?
@FelixCLC_ The YouTube channels of many F1 teams have a lot of behind the scenes engineering content than ever before. Great to see interest in racing extend behind the driver.
Hybrid devt more important to Mercedes than others. Paddy left to work on fuels. Great to see advances realised
@profserious The 2003 HE White paper by Charles Clarke was supposed to improve UK productivity & skills. Fdn degrees & new courses have failed.
Ditto Drayson on Defence Industry.
Cable, Willetts et al also got so much wrong wrt electronics & industry. Need authentic voices not echo chamber
@ATaylorFPGA@JamesFrith Have you checked out the AI Minister?
My mother was Welsh speaking fr mining village, not sure how Kanishka Narayan 'represents' the community.
How will he make AI "maker not taker"? when UK participants at Indian AI Impact Summit were not ppl I'd quote
@tim_minshall I attended RAEng debate ab Manufacturing where Sir Mike Gregory was defeated by editor of FT & other 'influential' people. But those voting were members.
Attn paid to UK Eng is pitiful.
Read recent Antwerp Declaration & Belgian speech
On IWD I see no real progress for WiE
@collision@glangley@Flock_Safety Excellent discussion & fascinating examples of impact on crime by use of security hardware. I'd be happy for it to be used here.
The work that experienced aero engineers are doing nr me (Milton Keynes, UK) is transforming rapidly. This & Zipline inspiring
Better than fintech 😂
@Underfox3 Amazing, he & Wally (Silvaco) are fixing the right problems.
I had dinner in London w Craig & his outstanding wife Barbara - she supported women engineers.
The Intel School Fair in Dublin bigger than anything in UK.
At last ppl are recognising how hard HW is
