Let’s pretend that you really need all this extra time to make it just right, even though Skyrim took only 7 years and they also released fallout 3 in between.

Let’s pretend that Bethesda is pushing out rockstar level of quality games. Let’s pretend that you can actually justify the timetables with the level of polish.

Let’s pretend every Bethesda game has been bug free and never had any technical issues at launch. And Let’s also pretend that if they did, they were swiftly patched and fixed and wouldn’t still be suffering on a particular Japanese console years after release.

Let’s pretend that it’s critical for Todd Howard to touch every aspect of the game. Let’s pretend he is the only key to success.

Why in Oblivion would you NOT allow other companies to run spin offs of the IP. Why WOULDN’T you push for a New Vegas 2? From purely a business decision how does it not make sense to have Elder scrolls spin offs? Not even a small RTS game? Really?

Can ANYONE actually explain how this makes a lick of sense when New Vegas has become the cult classic? Any excuse beyond pettiness? Beyond selfishness?

What's worse about the layoffs at ID Software is that DOOM: The Dark Ages Revelations is by far the greatest piece of DOOM content the studio has ever produced, and instead of celebrating this milestone, here we are all in utter disbelief.

If Nolan wanted to make a gritty allegory for modern social disruption and WWII PTSD, he should’ve used THE ILIAD.

Achilles is the protagonist who ends up with regrets for chasing glory.

Butchering the Odyssey to make it fit disparate themes and intentions just ruins it.

Yes but that's the thing, it's fundamentally against Odysseus as a character. He is a schemer who uses deception to his benefit. Same man who uncaringly killed sleeping men. The Trojan Horse is one of his finest. Making him into a honourable man wanting a fair fight is strange 😭

Im surprised more people aren’t talking about just how atrocious this scene is in the Odyssey. Nolan took a part of the story about savage giants who throw boulders at and eat Odysseus’s crew and changed them to be weird 12ft tall medieval knights or something.

My theory is that Nolan took the "Nobody" scene out on purpose to downplay Odysseus’ masculinity.

Part of the genius of the “Nobody” section is that Odysseus—in his all-consuming pride—can’t stand to know that Polyphemus thinks “nobody” defeated him. As he and his men are leaving the Cyclops' cave, he pompously declares that he, Odysseus, the sacker of cities, gouged out Polyphemus’s eye.

This prompts Polyphemus—armed now with the knowledge of Odysseus's identity—to pray to Poseidon that Odysseus and his men never return home.

Odysseus' own pride sets the story into motion and is effectively responsible for his own sufferings. But in Nolan's film, Odysseus is far from prideful and instead feels shame for his actions at Troy.

Including this scene would have changed the sort of Odysseus that Nolan wanted to create.
