Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi granted bail by the Court in Butambala. We can all hope and pray that he won't be abducted or arrested again as happened last time. Grateful to everyone who has been following up - and especially the people of Butambala for the great show of solidarity.
The UAE has lifted precautionary visa restrictions on nationals of Uganda after authorities confirmed the end of the country’s Ebola outbreak and completion of the internationally established monitoring period.
However, precautionary entry measures for nationals of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan remain in place.
The UAE authorities said the measures will continue to be reviewed based on evolving health risks and public health standards.
Bank of Kigali, Rwanda’s largest commercial bank, just became the first Rwandan lender to join China’s Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS). With the move, the bank can settle transactions directly in yuan, reducing reliance on the US dollar for trade with China. OVER 67 African banks spanning 38 countries have joined the CIPS network through varying levels of participation.
CIPS completes cross-border yuan settlements in 300 milliseconds to 10 seconds, vastly outperforming SWIFT's 1 to 5 business days. Furthermore, its direct real-time clearing bypasses intermediate dollar conversions, cutting transaction costs by 95% to 98%.
UAE has announced that it is easing precautionary entry measures introduced in June 2026 for nationals of the Republic of #Uganda in response to developments related to the #Ebola virus.
