PRESS RELEASE: Southwest Airlines Meteorologists, represented by Transport Workers Union Local 550, have reached a Tentative Agreement on a new Labor Contract.
TWU550 is aware of a technology issue impacting Southwest Airlines.
Our members are working diligently to ensure the safety & operational control of the airline.
This is, once again, a failure of leadership to address the real issues: a lack of planning, foresight, and vision.
It is SWAPA’s responsibility to ask the Pilot group to consider the best interests of @SouthwestAir and to vote against the re-election of the 12 members of the SWA Board of Directors (BOD) on May 17th.

"Herb would have been here." -Senator Maria Cantwell, Chair of Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation
SWAPA is proud to represent the more than 10,000 pilots of @SouthwestAir, and today, we showed up.

The TWU 550 Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Tentative Agreement 2 has been approved and ratified by a vote of our Membership.
Voting breakdown was as follows:
YES: 75.86%
NO: 24.14%
The lack of vision for the future, long-needed overhauls of technology, and limited changes to the network are all compounding each other.
"Sorry" is not enough this time. Action must be taken and @SouthwestAir must be held accountable. (3/3)
Major weather events will always be a burden on our operation, but the current situation is untenable and is a direct result of the lack of investment and foresight by @SouthwestAir leadership. (1/3)
"Dispatchers have a joint responsibility, along with the flight crew, for the safety and operational control of flights under their guidance."

Our Informational Picket at Dallas Love Field this morning went off without a hitch! Thank you to all who participated and to all who support our efforts!
Another week, another airline employee picket.
100 @southwestair dispatchers and meteorologists demonstrated outside @dallaslovefield near Southwest HQ in Dallas Monday, saying contract talks have stalled.
@TWU550
Appreciable RETROACTIVE PAY means far more than just recovering delayed compensation. It’s the only balancing pressure RLA Labor has against companies’ foot-dragging on improved contracts.
Day 1,316 since entering Section 6.
This week has been a week full of ups and downs at the table. Today, we wrapped the session after discussions on open topics. Company asked to have the break until meeting again to compile their next proposal.
We return to the table Dec. 6-8.
Day 1,314 sine the opening of Section 6 negotiations.
The Company completely wasted our time today.
We go again tomorrow. Hopefully, Company negotiators will come to the table with a reasonable offer that does not undervalue the work of our Membership.
