There was a clear TE run at the end of the 2nd:
Eli Stowers (54), Nate Boerkircher (56), Marlin Klein (59), Max Klare (61)
2 TE went early in the 3rd:
Sam Roush (69), Oscar Delp (73)
#Texans tried trading back & knew they probably weren't getting their TE without a 3rd rounder
Iโm talking to people around the league after day 2 of the draft, itโs clear Boerkircher was much higher for teams than on consensus board
He was going to be drafted in the next 15-20 picks based on what Iโve heard.
Still an overdraft! But just giving more context.
Daniel Jeremiah wasn't wrong about the Marlin Klein going as high as the 2nd round.
#Texans drafting Klein will be controversial with Emmanuel McNeil-Warren going at 58 and Anthony Hill Jr. at 60.
.@MoveTheSticks believes Michigan TE Marlin Klein, his fifth-ranked tight end in the class, could go as high as the end of the second round.
If the #Patriots want Hunter Henryโs eventual successor, they will likely need to make a move early on.
Another โMy guyโ great run defender that will see the field immediately can penetrate and hold the point of attack. Needs some development as a pass rusher, but good selection. First size outlier in DeMeco era as well. #HTownMade
Last year must have really struck a nerve for Caserio not being able to trade up in the first lol
Keylan Rutledge and Kayden McDonald are two solid picks for the #Texans.
Rich Hill draft chart: #Texans essentially give up a late 5th to move up and take DT Kayden McDonald.
Texans leapfrog the Giants, who traded DT Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals
Two players the #Texans like if they stay up at 28 via @JFowlerESPN:
Georgia Tech OG Keylan Rutledge
Ohio State DT Kayden McDonald
Houston has done โa lotโ of homework on their offensive line and are a trade back candidate at 28.
Using the Rich Hill draft chart, #Texans gave up the equivalent of a 4th rounder to move from 28 to 26.
Don't love it but it is what it is. Rutledge had been mocked to the Texans all draft process.
@Texans_Thoughts Not saying he's the same player but Trent Brown could help his case. As a vet and a player the Texans are comfortable with despite him being a bigger OT
@Overhaul89 An argument can be made TE is just as important.
There's not much at TE outside of Schultz and Sadiq would be on a cheap deal even when Schultz's deal expires.
Don't think it hurts that Caley is a former TE Coach.
"Before the draft I'm starting to hear that a couple of teams are really actively trying to trade up..
I heard that the Texans and Broncos were..
The Bears take Colston Loveland at 10 and then a bunch of calls stop" ~ @RapSheet#PMSLive
It doesn't hurt that Bucs GM Jason Licht worked with #Texans GM Nick Caserio in New England, so there's an option at 15.
It's possible that 1 of Kadyn Proctor, Kenyon Sadiq, or Olaivavega Ioane could be available in that range. Wouldn't be mad at that.
@OskarLR22 Ideally yes, but the 2027 class is rumored to be better than this year's draft.
Having a late 2027 1st will likely be more valuable than a late 2026 1st. The 3rd would just be a sweetener. If they get more than that, that would be amazing
With #Texans picking at 28 and at the top of Round 2 (38), what's stopping the Rams from trading their 2027 1st and 2026 3rd (93rd)?
Rams should believe they're going far in 2027 so their rationale is it'll be a pick in the similar range, 93 is just the cost of doing business
will Ty Simpson be drafted in Round 1?
"No... maybe we see a trade... I think the Rams were a big reason why he came out. Thinking the Rams would be a spot"
well, there's a certain head coach in Arizona who was just on that rams staff!
