Historic Exchange: Oba of Benin Presents Kolanut to Iyaloja-General to Mark Her Acceptance into the Palace
In the Benin Kingdom, the presentation of a kolanut is a deeply symbolic gesture rooted in tradition and respect. Offering kolanut to a guest signifies peace, hospitality, and spiritual acceptance. It is a sacred act that invokes blessings, unity, and the ancestral spirits' approval of the visitor’s presence. This ritual is especially meaningful when performed by the Oba, as it reflects the kingdom’s embrace and the guest’s honorable welcome into its cultural fold.
During this historic occasion, the Iyaloja-General was warmly received by the Oba of Benin and his esteemed chiefs in a ceremony rich with tradition and reverence. Following the symbolic kolanut offering, the Oba extended his royal blessings to the newly inaugurated market leaders, affirming their roles and responsibilities within the community. The event marked a powerful moment of cultural unity and leadership affirmation within the palace walls.

VeryDarkMan says terrorists and bandits are coming to Lagos and that nobody can stop them.
That’s a serious security claim. The DSS and Police should invite him to disclose the source of his information and assist investigations.
Security is not a joke.🚶🏿♂️

Our Troop are mopping up these b@stards. ISWAP/Boko Haram fighters abandoned their motorcycle in the forest and fled.
More strength to our patriotic troops.
Don’t let them change the narrative.
Oyo kidnappers are not political actors, they are RELIGIOUS actors.
They demanded for Religion laws, not political party law.
Retweet to expose the truth.
I have served in Yoruba associations before, I have also served in Islamic associations before.
There is nothing you want to say tha can make me put religion first before my tribe. Anything you want to present is dead on arrival.

NO NEGOTIATION WITH TERRORISTS:
The Ọ̀yọ́ State House of Assembly has rejected calls for the state government to negotiate with kidnappers who abducted teachers and students in Oriìrè Local Government Area.
Lawmakers instead called for intensified rescue operations and stronger security measures to secure the release of all victims and prevent future attacks on schools and communities.
The Assembly also urged the establishment of a permanent military base in the area, security audits of vulnerable schools, improved support for local security outfits, and faster action on state policing.
Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin said negotiating with kidnappers could encourage further attacks, stressing that efforts should remain focused on rescue operations, intelligence gathering and strengthening security across the state.
