Ruth Odinga has come out strongly and shut down the noise around the Linda Mwananchi Mega Rally in Kisumu.
After a section of leaders tried chest-thumping, claiming they would block the rally, she made one thing very clear Kisumu is not anyone’s private property. It is an open city. Anyone with a message for the people is free to come and speak.
“Together as one, scatter no one.” Those were her words, and they were not just a slogan. They carried a deeper political message. Even with the rising tensions, she is signaling that Linda Mwananchi should not be treated as an outsider movement but as something that still belongs within ODM.
This is where it gets interesting.
At a time when some leaders are pushing division and trying to draw lines, Ruth Odinga is choosing unity. She is not fighting the movement she is embracing it, but on one condition that it stays within the broader ODM family.
So while others are busy issuing threats and trying to control the ground, she is playing a bigger game protecting political space, calming the temperature, and reminding everyone that strength comes from unity, not exclusion.
In simple terms she has told them Kisumu is open, the people will decide, and no one should try to scatter what can still stand together.
@MbulaMutula I remember this — the famous ‘Donde Bill’ introduced by Gem MP Joe Donde in 2000. Officially the Central Bank of Kenya (Amendment) Bill 2000, it sought to regulate interest rates and, most importantly, capped total interest charged so it could never exceed the principal amount.

Rwanda banned second-hand clothes in 2018.
President Paul Kagame famously asked: "Why would any African wear used socks or vest of someone from Belgium, France or America? Why can't you make your own?"
Since 2018, Rwanda has halted the importation of second-hand clothing to protect and grow its local textile industry, promote "Made in Rwanda" products, and strengthen economic independence.
This is why you won't see the massive piles of imported clothing waste in Rwanda that are common in many other African countries.
ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC: "At Inter Milan we had a rule: if we lost two games in a row, salaries were delayed. But Balotelli broke that rule!
We lost a cup final and a league match in three days. Mario didn’t show up to training and Mourinho couldn’t find him. After 30 minutes, the president walked in furious with Balotelli by his side.
He asked us: 'Does Mario know how to read Italian?' We answered: 'Yes.' And he said: 'Funny, because he came to my office to ask me for his salary.'
We explained the rule, but Mario replied: 'Even if we lose 100 times, I want my money now.'
Then the president said: 'From today on, you’ll always get paid on time, but I don’t want anyone behaving like Mario.'
It was the first time we got paid after two defeats… and we started passing him the ball more so he would score, because he was better than the president himself."
