Surveillance cameras captured the first moments of the air raid launched by Saudi warplanes that targeted the vicinity of Al-Sabeen Maternity and Children's Hospital in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, yesterday.

The Red Sea coastline is splitting into overlapping alignments, and Somalia just showed how tangled it has become.
The sequence I have been watching across the Horn of Africa because of business interests that I am able to talk about for the first time is showing up on the map:
1. In December 2025: Israel recognises Somaliland, the breakaway region, and moves toward a naval base at the port of Berbera. Mogadishu calls it a violation of its sovereignty.
2. July to September 2026: the Ansrallah Houthis in Yemen push along and seize Yemen's Red Sea coast and intensify their strikes on Saudi Arabia.
3. October 2026: the Houthis claim a ballistic-missile and drone strike on an Aramco facility in Riyadh itself. Fire and smoke are seen near the site. Saudi Arabia and Aramco say nothing. The same day, Yemeni government forces hit Houthi positions in Sana'a and the northwest.
4. October 2026: in an Al Jazeera exclusive interview I watched, the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud names the Ansrallah Houthis in Yemen as the problem.
He said: "In real time, it is the Houthis that are aggressive, that are outside the international law or international framework", choking navigation through Bab al-Mandeb.
I see this as interests that explains the move from Somali, not his slogans.
Somalia sits across the Gulf of Aden from a coast the Houthis now hold.
That control threatens Somali ports, shipping revenue and a refugee flow that already lands on its shores, which is why Mogadishu now lines up behind the Saudi-led effort to reopen the strait because it needs the flow to open.
In the same interview, Mohamud rejects any Israeli presence "under any circumstances", calls the Berbera move part of a "Greater Israel" project, and vows to resist it. Somaliland, a part of breakaway region of Somali has signed several agreements with Israel as of recent and tilts toward Israel.
Somalia fights both the Houthis and Israel at once with this statement and with the interview.
That is the shape of this war now. Alignments no longer run in clean blocs. A single capital can oppose the Iranian axis and the Israeli one in the same breath, because each threatens a different interest.
The coalition against the Houthis is widening, but each capital joins only where its own interest is threatened, and Somalia will go no further.
Please be sure to follow if you are new here as I examine the issues that headlines do not cover.

BREAKING: Yemen's Houthis appear to have struck Saudi Arabia's East-West crude oil pipeline again, hitting Pumping Station No. 2 east of Riyadh. Sentinel-3 satellite imagery shows a black smoke plume roughly 50 km long over the site today.
NASA FIRMS recorded four heat anomalies at the station, with fire radiative power up to 88 megawatts and one reading at 367 Kelvin, the ceiling the VIIRS mid-infrared channel can register, meaning the fire is likely hotter than the data shows.
The pipeline is Saudi Arabia's only export route that does not pass through the Strait of Hormuz. It was shut on September 11 after the first wave of strikes and only partially restarted on September 22.
You know what is truly depressing about Pakistan, and what breaks my heart for its people?
The world moved from analog to digital, to AI, and now to quantum and consciousness in the last 30 years. Even our next-door neighbors moved from basic manufacturing and digital to emerging tech and building unicorns.
Meanwhile, the military dictators, along with their dynastic political partners in Pakistan, are still recycling the “terrorism” narrative after three decades, trying to build an entire economy and society around a lack of security and geopolitical rents.
What a travesty for people who deserve so much better from life than what those in power are willing to allow them.
While people suffer from joblessness, lack of opportunities, visa rejections, and inflation due to the ruling elite’s obsession with geopolitics, the ruling elite has official passports, offshore accounts, London mansions, and government subsidies.
Can anynone tag last 3 Pakistani Railways ministers who are yapping for ML1 ML1 since a decade now? We dont need no CPEC. I remember i was making a design for a nation wide fiber optic cable in 2017; got hold of an Indian Railways document online and guess what, their OFC was larger then all OFC in Pakistan and they were not just running their own signalling system, they were selling leased lines nation wide. I think it was running on Huawei DWDM at that time. Why cant our babus think like that? We need to get our house in order. 220 million cant turn around 1 SoE? Whattay nation of mediocre cuckloads.
BREAKING: Yemen’s Houthis now appear to have hit Saudi Arabia’s East West oil pipeline for the second time in weeks, with Pumping Station No. 2 east of Riyadh showing major signs of a fire and a massive smoke plume visible over the facility.
The 1,200 km pipeline was shut on September 11 after earlier drone strikes damaged pumping stations in the Riyadh and Madinah regions, which Saudi Arabia blamed on drones launched from Iraq. It only partially restarted on September 22 at roughly 3.5 million barrels per day, around half its capacity.
NASA FIRMS detected four thermal anomalies at the station, with fire radiative power reaching 88 megawatts and one reading hitting 367 Kelvin.
The pipeline can carry up to 7 million barrels of crude per day to Yanbu on the Red Sea, allowing Saudi Arabia to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Another disruption could again threaten crude flows through the alternative route.

Pakistan’s economy and its ongoing trade with #China are likely to face further #challenges.
Today, the #Wakhan_Corridor , passing through the rugged mountains of #Badakhshan in Afghanistan’s Wakhan district, is being inaugurated.
The corridor is expected to directly connect #China and Afghanistan, as well as facilitate links with several other countries. From now on, #China will increasingly turn toward #Afghanistan for trade and regional connectivity instead of #Pakistan.
🇮🇷🇦🇪| Imported security has an expiration date: Velayati’s blunt wake-up call to the UAE
Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran on International Affairs, issues a stark warning to a "neighbor."
📢 What did Velayati say?
Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran on International Affairs, posted a message on X. He did not mention the country by name, but everyone knew exactly who he was talking about.
He stated:
"Regional experience shows that imported security has an expiration date."
"Neighbors remain, while guests eventually leave."
He went on to point out: A country with a political history of less than half a century claims sovereignty from the UN podium over the Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa islands; yet these islands were recorded as Iranian territory in historical documents and maps centuries ago.
He concluded: "Speaking of 'Arab rights' and 'Islamic solidarity' just one week after warmly welcoming Netanyahu is not merely a claim; it is a contradiction. Public opinion from Cairo to Beirut will pass judgment on this double standard."
🎯 Who is Velayati talking about?
The UAE.
The country with a political history of less than 50 years established only in 1971. The country that claimed sovereignty over three Iranian islands from the UN podium. The country that had just warmly welcomed Netanyahu a week prior.
The UAE welcomed Netanyahu. Then, it speaks of "Arab rights" and "Islamic solidarity."
This is not diplomacy. It is a farce.
🏝️ The three islands: Not a "dispute," but Iranian territory
Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa these three islands are located in the eastern Persian Gulf, near the Strait of Hormuz.
They have been part of Iran since ancient times.
◽Historical documents: Maps from Persia and Britain dating back centuries clearly mark these islands as belonging to Iran.
◽1971: Iran resumed sovereignty over these islands following the British withdrawal from the Persian Gulf, a time when the UAE did not even exist yet.
◽ International law: Iran’s sovereignty over these islands has been continuous, peaceful, and effective.
The UAE’s "claim of sovereignty" lacks any historical or legal basis; it is merely another tool used by the US-Israel axis to contain Iran.
💀 What is "imported security"?
The "imported security" mentioned by Velayati refers to the UAE's entire security architecture.
The UAE’s security is not its own; it is imported.
◾United States: The UAE hosts the Al Dhafra Air Base, where US F-35 fighter jets and drones are stationed. Following the destruction of the US Fifth Fleet’s headquarters in Bahrain by Iran, the US military presence in the UAE has become even more critical yet also more vulnerable.
🪳 Israel: The UAE signed the Abraham Accords in 2020, "normalizing" relations with Israel. Israel provides the UAE with intelligence, surveillance technology, and cyber-warfare capabilities. Netanyahu’s visit to the UAE served as a public display of this "security cooperation."
◾ France: The UAE hosts one of France’s largest overseas military bases, the Abu Dhabi naval base.
But Velayati is right: imported security has an expiration date.
⏳ Why does "imported security" expire?
Because the providers of that security are themselves retreating.
◾United States: The US Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain was destroyed by Iran. US forces will not return in the short term. The US military presence in the Middle East is shrinking.
🪳Israel: Israel is bogged down in a quagmire in Gaza and is facing stiff resistance from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Six weeks before the election, Netanyahu blew up a mountain using 1,100 tons of explosives and then declared "victory" because he needed a "victory" that could be captured on video to mask his failures.
◾ France: France has been expelled from the Sahel. Its military-industrial capacity is insufficient to even supply Ukraine. It cannot even protect its own airspace.
What happens to a country that imports its security when the security provider leaves?
It finds itself standing exposed and defenseless in the storm.
🏛️ "Neighbors stay; guests eventually leave."
This is one of Velayati’s most astute statements.
Iran is a neighbor. It has existed in this region for millennia. Its history, culture, geography, and people are inextricably linked to this land. It will not be "expelled." It will not be "replaced." It is here to stay.
The United States is a guest. It flies in from 8,000 kilometers away. Its aircraft carriers can arrive in weeks and leave in weeks. Its presidents change every four years. Its public has grown weary of Middle East wars. Its empire is in decline.
The UAE has placed its bets on the guest. But the guest will eventually leave.
And when the guest leaves, the neighbor remains.
🔥 The UAE’s Betrayal: From "Arab Rights" to "Embracing Netanyahu"
Velayati said: "To speak of 'Arab rights' and 'Islamic unity' just one week after warmly welcoming Netanyahu is not merely a claim, it is a contradiction."
What has the UAE done?
◾It welcomed Netanyahu, a war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court.
◾ It signed the Abraham Accords betraying the Palestinian cause.
◾ It engaged in military and intelligence cooperation with Israel opposing Iran and the Axis of Resistance.
◾It funded separatist forces in southern Yemen attempting to dismantle Yemen's sovereignty. ◾ It supports the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan a force implicated in genocide.
◾It supports Haftar in Libya destabilizing the country.
Yet, from the UN podium, it speaks of "Arab rights" and "Islamic solidarity."
Public opinion from Cairo to Beirut will pass judgment on this double standard.
The UAE’s bill will eventually come due.
Velayati’s warning was not a threat; it was a statement of fact.
The KP Government had agreed to sign a written agreement and submit an implementation plan within 72 hours, covering
• Reconsideration of the Police Act 2026 in light of the security situation and the need to protect security matters from political interference
• Preventing terrorists from operating freely or finding safe havens in the province
• Unequivocal condemnation of TTP/TTA and all other terrorist groups
• Support for the national policy on Afghan refugees, including repatriation and dismantling Afghan camps in KP
• No contact with the Interim Afghan Government
• Substantial funding for counterterrorism operations and the police
• Full provincial ownership of counterterrorism measures and stronger cooperation with the Armed Forces
• Decisions on counterterrorism in the former FATA and merged districts
• Implementation of the National Action Plan
Last night, during the final phase of negotiations, the KP Government backed out of these commitments. Security must not be politicised while the province is at War
This is the tape people quoting the 1967 lines never play. You simply have to watch this. Seeing this footage and hearing the words spoken directly by the Arabs in their own voice just blew me away, especially the Saudi King.
This is some of the most unbelievable old footage that every western leader needs to watch, and every Arab country except the UAE wishes was never published. If you want to understand why I believe Saudi are as evil now as they were then, it’s because MBS speaks with the same tongue.
In the weeks before the Six-Day War, Nasser threw the UN force out of Sinai, closed the Straits of Tiran, and told the Arab world the point was no longer the straits or Syria but turning the clock back twenty years, to before Israel existed. Kuwait, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco pledged their armies to the United Command.
Jordan’s ties to Iraq and Saudi Arabia were there to put more men and tanks on Israel’s border.
King Hussein and Abdel Nasser, Syria and Iraq, and the crowds were sure they were going to war and sure they were going to win.
King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, a bitter opponent of Nasser, joined anyway. Asked if Saudi Arabia would go to war against Israel, he said they were ready to go to the furthest extremity. Asked what sequence of events he wanted to see in the Middle East, he said the first thing is the extermination of Israel.
Radio Cairo then broadcast into Israel, in Hebrew, that they would kill them all and torch them. There was no Israeli television in 1967, so Israelis watched Egyptian television and saw the street celebrations, Nasser with his MiG-21 pilots, and the tanks moving into Sinai. The Arab press ran the caricatures of Jews crushed and pierced. Rabbis consecrated parks as mass graveyards. Civilians gave blood and dug trenches. A mother in that footage says she had already decided that if they were conquered she would turn on the gas so her children would not fall into their hands.
General Shlomo Gazit, head of Israeli military intelligence research in 1967, says they had gone back to the days of the War of Independence, a threat of annihilation, and the Jews panicked.
That is what the 1967 lines were.
Armistice lines from a war the Arab states started to erase the country, not a border anybody agreed, and not a map a moderate Saudi Arabia was standing apart from. Faisal was in it. The words are on the tape.
The first war was to annihilate Israel, the second was to exterminate it, and in 1973 the Syrian army came down off the Golan far enough that the general staff thought the state was in danger of being destroyed.
A Palestinian state on those lines is not a flag and a parliament. At the narrowest point that line sits about nine to fifteen miles from the sea, on the high ground overlooking Tel Aviv, the airport, and the road that holds the country together, with Gaza on the other side. Put an armed faction in both places, the kind that already ran Gaza after Israel left in 2005, and you’ve built the encirclement those wars failed to finish, with half of Jerusalem thrown in.
Jordan held that half from 1948 to 1967 and emptied the Jewish Quarter. Nobody who watches this tape, and watched the events of October 7, signs that map and calls it peace. There can never and will never be a Two State Solution, because the Arab intention to genocide the Jews in 1948 and 1967 is exactly the same as it is today.
