Our paper from @galexan2 lab understanding the complex #chemotaxis pathway in Azospirillum brasilense and trying to capture finer nuances in #motility effected by CheYs is out. Many thanks to the team. It was such an interesting collaboration

#Microbes are indeed fascinating organisms! An interesting talk by Manjula Reddy @ccmb_csir on how #bacteria make their cell walls: `Break before make - how do bacteria make their cell walls'

A personal, honest look at one postdoc's (@brafoster_phd : a good man and a conscientious scientist) decision and experience in transitioning to a job in industry. Must read for any trainee contemplating this route, and for any PI advising such trainees.

I mean, we are just here treating your Covid and cancers but sure, whatever.

The first one always feels a bit special: First preprint from our lab on the identification of a direct regulator of FtsZ dynamics that is conserved in actinobacteria. Fantastic team effort by @felixrl_ ,@MatthewJBush @JWSallmenII@joemccormick6 and @JohnInnesCentre Bioimaging
If I have grad students interested in possibly going into patent agent work, are there fellowships/internships available?
Anyone got any advice or tips I can convey to them?

Submitted a paper to a @SpringerNature journal and was shocked with one of the reviewers' comments. Apparently, scientists outside the West are incapable of conducting competitive research on their own— we need Western scientists to hold our hand @AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter
@HarmitMalik Notion, even the free version is quite powerful. Strike through To-do list, weekly agenda, web clipper, sync across platforms, integrates w/ Trello & other apps

You know that time in the committee meeting when we ask the PhD candidate to step out of the room? What if we did the same thing with the mentor and asked if the student had anything they’d like to share? Could the committee help them more?
The images for biologists Jyotsna Dhawan and Manjula Reddy has been finally uploaded to their newly created Wikipedia pages.
Thank you @SomdattaKarak from @ccmb_csir for kindly donating us the pictures and @RamyaSingh for taking so much effort to upload them.
Dr Ananda Chakrabarty a doyen of Microbiolgy will be greatly missed. His contribution to the patenting of recombinant microorganisms was revolutionary. A great friend and guide of @DBTIndia. Obituary: Ananda M. Chakrabarty - https://t.co/BtdCKMWjfM
@SmitaJainIISc@chet_josh There are no requirements for "cover letters" for most of the jobs. This can easily weed out "click & submit" type of applications. Though there won't be much reduction in numbers but at least employer can then see through a customized vs non-customized click & submit application
@SmitaJainIISc@chet_josh Also found that the "system" has a strong affinity for marks even for class X for post-PhD level jobs. The "system" still believes marks can be true reflection of one's ability. Initial screening just based on certificates and marks is such waste of talents.
