A world without dialogue is a universe of darkness. If people don't get together and share views and exchange ideas, they remain unaware, ignorant, and unconscious.
Whether you succeed or not is irrelevant, there is no such thing. Making your unknown known is the important thing. And creativity takes courage and an ability to understand that the process not the product is the vehicle.
One of the most beautiful things about humans is the differences that we have with one another.
For example, one person I met this week is killing it in the financial world, grinding his butt off, and stacking his chips while he can in the cycle. Another one of my friends just bought a one way ticket to South America, to chase his dreams and travel on a budget.
Two completely opposite paths, yet they are the correct choice for both individuals based on their dreams and characteristics. Isn’t that fascinating.
Living life as an artist is a practice.
You are either engaging in the practice, or you’re not.
It makes zero sense to say you’re not good at it.
It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a human.” You are either living as a human or you’re not.
Why the categorization?
We tend to think of the artist’s work as the output, the thing I see in front of me today.
The real work of the artist
is a way of being in the world.
If you start from the position that there is no correct or incorrect, no good or bad, and creativity is just free play with no rules, it’s easier to immerse yourself cheerfully in the process of making things.
Thus, the peak state of human life is creation.
My girlfriend had this in her pantry, ever since I used it this morning I’ve been fascinating and how drawn I am to the product. Top-tier design and makes you feel royal when you use it, yet it’s simple olive oil. Great brands know this.
This Meta Glasses commercial at the US Open was absolutely brilliant. At the end of the day, your phone might just stay in your pocket.
$META is coming for your lunch, $AAPL. Watch out.
I truly feel awful for lazy people because you can legitimately change the course of your life in the next 30 days if you are willing to sacrifice the comforts you have grown fond of.
Don’t let the weight of the world ruin your unique perspective. It may not be making you the money you want or the outcomes you desire, but it is where reality has met you in this moment. The beautiful thing about moments is they pass before we can realize they are happening. Life is only a collage of these we call memories. Point being, if you aren’t where you want to be, there is no point in not enjoying the process. If you don’t learn to lean into the chaos, you will not sustain the work required to reach brilliance.
You know what is amazing about this world. One day does not define you. One week is a blip on the timeline. Even a year in the grand scheme of things is under 2% of an average lifetime.
We all want things fast and convenient, but imagine sacrificing under 5% of your life to create an amazing situation for the remaining 75% of it?
20% is your early years (0-17), after that all is achievable with enough focus and work.
Exercise the "I own my life" muscle a lot; this muscle needs to be exercised every single day as much as possible down to the finest minutiae
This is a thought process you need to continually reaffirm in every small moment God gives you to affirm; CONSTANTLY
You need to own your life and your kingdom and your decisions and your own structure, otherwise you are at the mercy of everything else around you with no weapons to combat the world with
No matter what happens it is your fault to fix it and the more you avoid this fact the harder your life is going to be in the short term, there's a great quote I have had in my mind for a very long time and I say it to myself probably once a day "The road to heaven feels like hell and the road to hell feels like heaven" and it is so true in matters of the soul
Even when you're moderately hands off lets say in your life your routines your awareness, your decisions, you would think in the moment the weight of responsibility is lighter on you but its really not because your destiny is still being shaped just now you're primarily unconscious of the journey but the journey is still ongoing
Responsibility and truth is hard at the start and glorious at the end whereas the short term perspectives of life are the opposite they're easy in the moment but they crush and destroy your capabilities and optionality as you as a person and a man progress which is of course negative
Slowly but surely the repetition of making yourself this person also takes over and you get to a point where having immense amounts of energy, focus, discipline and an attack orientated never switching off mindset is the baseline once you get addicted to the results you internally feel like what you're progressing on and building, is deeply in your favour but you can never get to this position unless you recognise there is no such thing as a small decision
Expressing yourself at this point comes first from the ultimately accountable decision that you are maximally responsible for everything in your life and you also have to be willing to pay the price and incur the emotional pain of that decision because if this position is truly embodied it pulls you into further action and thinking which is going to continually expand your problem palette but there is no other way forwards than this and by facing the ugly truth of how it actually looks in action

what doesn't kill you introduces you to carl jung, marcus aurelius, epictetus, friedrich nietzsche, james baldwin, bell hooks, audre lorde, frantz fanon, paulo freire, joseph campbell, alan watts, ram dass, gary zukav, brene brown, gabor mate, shadow work, attachment theory, nervous-system regulation, ancestral trauma, existentialism, stoicism, meditation, emotional intelligence, neuroplasticity, metacognition, pattern recognition, game theory, delusional optimism, boundaries and discernment.
If you want to create extraordinary things, make peace with the fact that your path will look idiotic to the outside world.
Inventive art, vulnerable writing that’s human, or clarity are mainly born from doing the opposite of what is capitalistically measured as successful.
Long walks, journaling, sitting with your thoughts in an uncertain state, taking a step back and leaving the golden handcuffs.
The machine wants your output. Your soul requires your input.
Underpricing a bigger competitor never wins long term. They'll copy your product and wait you out. The real move is changing what you're actually selling, so beating you means they'd have to tear up their own business model first. The more a dominant player has invested in building out its infrastructure, the less able it is to adapt. You win by changing the narrative, not following the same pattern.
There are millions of problems that require solutions, so in theory a business is not that difficult to “start.”
All you really need is a product / service that provides value, one customer can validate that.
Finding a real product market fit and solution that you can dedicate the next 5 years of your capital, attention, and livelihood too?
That’s a harder answer.
"The three most difficult things for a human being are not physical feats or intellectual achievements. They are, first, returning love for hate; second, including the excluded; third, admitting that you are wrong."
~ Anthony de Mello
You must pay the toll to cross the bridge. In my observation, most of the people who win share one trait. The ability to outlast the uncertainty that eats away at their mental state.
If I can figure out how to stay afloat and make better decisions, there’s no reality that I don’t become successful (in some form). Also, there is no shortcut of “adopting” this belief day 1 and expecting it to work.
You must pay the price, and it’s forever inflating the longer you wait. Experience and responsibility cost a lot my friend, and yeah it might be a big cost today. But I refuse to get to the end of life and look back with the regret of not possessing enough courage to bet on myself.
Passing on the principles that I have gathered, refined, and compressed into the simplest bits of wisdom. Let me know if you have any personal ones you stick by, or if you disagree with any. Best, TR. https://t.co/XkknruWelg
