Occultist. Interests include music, acting, literature and spirituality. Defensive of the rights of spiritual minorities. Dislike cultural snobbery/prejudice.
@HQmindd Those gods and goddesses have not been entirely forgotten. Pagan polytheists and occultists believe in and seek to engage with them. The majority of pagan polytheists do not reject the existence of any deities.
@GEEGdotcom@letclaybeclay@TheSkepticWiz I was referring specifically to pagan polytheists (not Hindus) who, more often than not, do believe in the existence of all gods. I am a pagan polytheist and I believe that all exist.
@letclaybeclay@TheSkepticWiz The Dawkins quote isn't accurate. It would be if he were addressing monotheists only, but pagan polytheists believe in the existence of all gods and goddesses.
@Iamjacksdisgust@HamillionM @Lilith_Atheist Yes, a polytheist. Pedantic? At times, yes. Doesn't take away from the fact that that statement isn't literally true. Inclusive polytheism is a thing.
@Lilith_Atheist This would be true if it stated there was no *scientific* evidence. However, others forms of evidence exist - such as experiential evidence/anecdotal evidence.
Michael J. Fox, despite his disease, stood up out of his wheelchair to greet photographers and even did an interview before sitting back down. Can't keep this man down! ๐
@Han38499336Eric@Scrubbums@KevinJM91@KristanHawkins@bennyjohnson How are you defining 'worth' here? You see all religions as worthless - and to you, they may well be. But I would say the religion I align with brings pleasure to my life. So since it brings benefits to me (as it does others) I would argue that it's not objectively without worth.
@frozenaesthetic @Big_Boss1483 That statement isn't *literally* true. We are not ALL atheists about those other gods. I am a pagan polytheist who believes in the existence of all gods and goddesses.
There is no room in the atheist narrative for the fact that in polytheist civilizations religion proved no significant barrier to advancement in the sciences. With Xtian hegemony, the West lost a millennium of steady progress in every single one of the sciences.
@gubatron@QueenAnticommie That isn't true. We are not *all* atheists. Most, I agree, but not all. Pagan Polytheists like myself believe in the existence of all gods and goddesses.
@JeffreyGuterman Well, that statement isn't accurate. It might apply to most people, but certainly not *all* people. I'm a Pagan Polytheist and many of us believe in the existence of all deities from all pantheons/religions.
Been in an online conversation with some non-theists who cannot comprehend how anyone can possibly believe in the existence of all deities. I told them this was common in polytheism and did my best to explain the principle.
@ArchTheAtheist Well, I'm a theist who *wasn't* born into the religious community that I'm now a part of. While your point stands for a number of theists, it's not just a matter of blindly following your elders' faith for everyone.
@WeAreNot_OK @RobertCNott @ApostateProphet Jehovah may *say* he is the only God, but I don't have to agree with him about that.
I believe Jehovah exists, but I don't accept his claim to exclusivity.
