Some places never leave your memory, especially when they are connected with the best days and the best people. During my recent visit to Baroda, stopped by Room Zoom after many years. This was a place I used to visit frequently during my days at the Baroda Stock Exchange, often with Dhanraj, Varsha, our families and close group of friends.
The taste was just as memorable as ever! Panipuri, Sevpuri, Dahipuri, Bhel and so much more. Located at Productivity Road near Alkapuri area, Room Zoom continues to bring back many wonderful memories of Baroda.
This time, it was lovely to share the experience with my driver and security staff. Good food, old memories and wonderful company, a simple moment to cherish.

Tulsi Shyam Range (Khambha): A Lion’s Second Chance at Life! 🦁

Critically injured in a fight, a male lion fell into a 10-foot embankment. Too weak to walk and too delicate to tranquilize, saving him seemed almost impossible... but the Forest Department stepped up!

The High-Risk Rescue 👇
▫️ A tracker was lowered in a cage near the lion.
▫️ Using poles and a noose, they safely restrained the big cat.
▫️ 20 brave personnel hauled the heavy cage up from the 10-foot trench to rush him into care!

After 10 days of intensive care, the King of the Jungle made a full recovery and is back where he belongs, roaming wild and free.🐾

Ever seen a red tamarind ! Chances are, you haven’t. It is so rare that scientists describe its occurrence as roughly “one among a thousand tamarind trees.” I was lucky to see and taste this rare little gem sometime back at the Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding, Coimbatore. From the outside, it looks like any ordinary tamarind, with a simple brown shell. Break it open and what a surprise ! Stunning crimson-red pulp, with the familiar tang of imli/puli.

This is Red Tamarind, Tamarindus indica var. rhodocarpa, a rare naturally occurring variety recorded in parts of southern India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Scientists at @IFGTBICFRE1 have been locating, conserving and studying these rare trees. They have also developed a low-cost process to extract the natural red pigment, “Tara Red,” from the unripe pulp. It has potential applications as a natural colourant in foods, cosmetics and textiles, and the institute has developed value-added products, including red tamarind jam.

They are also turning this work into livelihoods. Through the Red Tamarind Innovation Hub for Tribal Livelihoods, 170 tribal community members have been trained, two FSSAI-licensed hubs established, 22 hamlets reached and nearly 300 households supported.

ચાલુ વર્ષે ગુજરાતના ખાસ કરીને પોરબંદર, દેવભૂમિ દ્વારકા, જામનગર અને કચ્છ સહિતના કેટલાક વિસ્તારોમાં વરસાદ નહિવત થયો છે. આ પરિસ્થિતિના કારણે ખેડૂતો અને પશુપાલકો ભારે મુશ્કેલીમાં મુકાયા છે. ત્યારે પશુપાલકોની આ સ્થિતિને ગંભીરતાથી લઈને માનનીય મુખ્યમંત્રીશ્રી ભૂપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલે ઘાસની અછત ધરાવતા વિસ્તારોમાં સબસિડી સાથે રાહત દરે ઘાસ ઉપલબ્ધ કરાવવાનો નિર્ણય કર્યો છે. આ યોજનાનો સીધો લાભ પોરબંદર, દેવભૂમિ દ્વારકા, જામનગર અને કચ્છ જિલ્લાના પશુપાલકોને મળશે.

આ આયોજન હેઠળ પોરબંદર શહેરમાં ઘાસ ડેપો કાર્યરત કરી દેવાયો છે, જ્યાં પશુપાલકદીઠ વધુમાં વધુ પાંચ પશુઓ માટે રૂ. ૨ પ્રતિ કિલોના રાહત દરે ઘાસનું વિતરણ શરૂ કરવામાં આવ્યું છે. આગામી દિવસોમાં સમગ્ર જિલ્લામાં વધુ સ્થળોએ ડેપો શરૂ કરીને પૂરતા પ્રમાણમાં ઘાસ ઉપલબ્ધ કરાવવામાં આવશે. આ ઉપરાંત, ખેતમજૂરી પર નભતા પરિવારોને આજીવિકાની સમસ્યા ન નડે તે માટે 'જી રામ જી' યોજના હેઠળ રોજગારી પૂરી પાડવામાં આવશે.

પોરબંદર શહેર તથા ગ્રામ્ય વિસ્તારોમાં ભવિષ્યમાં પીવાના પાણીની કે અછતની સમસ્યા ન સર્જાય તે માટે જળસંપત્તિ અને પાણી પુરવઠા મંત્રીશ્રી ઈશ્વરસિંહ પટેલ તથા ઉચ્ચ અધિકારીઓ સાથે સમીક્ષા બેઠક યોજીને આગોતરું આયોજન હાથ ધરાયું છે. હાલ ફોદાળા અને ખંભાળા ડેમમાં પૂરતો જળજથ્થો ઉપલબ્ધ છે. તેમ છતાં, ભવિષ્યમાં જો પાણીનું સ્તર ઘટે તો ડેમ સાઇટ પર નવા કૂવાઓ ખોદવા તેમજ નર્મદા પાઇપલાઇન મારફતે પાણીનો પુરવઠો સુનિશ્ચિત કરીને જળ વિતરણ જાળવી રાખવામાં આવશે.

ચોમાસાની ઋતુ પૂર્ણ થયા બાદ નિયમાનુસાર સર્વે અને આનાવારીની કામગીરી હાથ ધરાશે, અને સરકારી મેન્યુઅલની જોગવાઈઓ મુજબ પાક નુકસાનીના વળતર અંગે યોગ્ય નિર્ણય લેવામાં આવશે.

શ્રીકૃષ્ણના પરમ સખા સુદામાજીની પવિત્ર ભૂમિ પોરબંદરની ઐતિહાસિક પરંપરા, લોકસંસ્કૃતિ અને સાંસ્કૃતિક વિરાસતને જીવંત રાખતો આ મેળાનો મહોત્સવ પેઢીઓને સંસ્કૃતિ સાથે જોડતો અનેરો ઉત્સવ છે.

Quick action and coordination between the Assam Forest Department and Railways helped save precious elephant lives from a potential collision with a Rajdhani Express on the railway tracks in Nagaon today.
