#HubbleClassic 22 years ago this week Hubble completed observations for the Hubble Deep Field. At the time, it was the deepest optical view of the universe ever captured. It showed hundreds of never-before-seen galaxies in a tiny speck of sky that had previously appeared blank.
The crew of Apollo 8 took this photo, later dubbed "Earthrise," #Today in 1968. During a broadcast that night, pilot Jim Lovell said "The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth."
With the arrival of 3 new crew, the total living & working on @Space_Station was expanded to 6 humans this morning. During their time on orbit they will conduct ~250 science investigations to further our journey into space & benefit life on Earth. Details: https://t.co/FRrjhIw77o
