@CPATaxTeam@ChrisHervochon To be fair, kind of a skill issue too. You used haiku. If you’re in Claude, change the model to opus (or even sonnet might get it). I’d equate to asking a first-year something, then being surprised…just ask the third-year.
@ChrisHervochon @JStaatsCPA @chaddavis@ralphbrooks@tayarndt@ShaynaCPA Bots to read tax documents, rename file, and store in table. Microsoft was nice bc dataverse & Karbon and OneDrive link, so when you tag to workorder, then documents save to onedrive, trigger script.

@jrklint@CaseyMericle I don’t think so, owner could be taking out distributions, which would drive down basis? Per usual, it prob depends and devil in details (entity type, sale type - asset v equity).
Haha maybe on-brand, but maybe not.
@adammarkowitzEA I’m out the next few weeks but next time you are back in dfw, we should plan a #taxtwitter get-together. Thanks for all you have done for the community!
@MattVerderame The important part is that Pacheco is taxed on his income regardless of the fine.
He still pays federal, state, and SS tax on the $58K. The fine is a net negative for him.
$58k income
$20.7K federal tax
$3K MO State Income Tax
Brings home: ~33K
Fine: $45K
Total: $-12K 🥴
