@NotHankDave Why doesn't anyone seem to get that in any given season you're going to need 7-9 starting pitchers almost no matter what. The kid being in the minors for an extra couple months, or Chandler being a long man or something for a month or 2 is fine. An SP logjam is a good thing
@JoshYohe_PGH Kindel, Braz, Mantha
Dewar, Lizotte, Acciari
Soderbloom is a good find for the future and nice depth, but shoehorning him into the third line is a mistake.
@itjackretard1 It's a lefty on the mound, perfect time to get Ohearn and Horwitz days off, I'm pretty sure this is Reynolds first off day. And this puts by far their best available defense behind Ashcraft this isn't the give up getaway game lineups of the past
@PiratesTalk Also a factor. The defense is so much better with Reynolds at DH. With the benefit of hindsight that money would have been much better spent on the bullpen or a useful 5th starter like Giolito, allowing mlod to stay in the pen
@JaredLankes Stretch him out for 2/3 weeks. Put mlod back in the pen to bolster it. Barco can give you likely the same inning mlod currently is then you're not automatically conceding every lead on days Soto and Santana don't pitch
@PiratesMuse Hunter Barco is not a reliever*
Pitching in close and late situations is clearly in his head. His control has never been this bad. I think swapping him with mlod would lengthen the bullpen without much meaningful impact on the rotation
@burghbulletin My guess is he's assumed (correctly) that these starters have to make it through the year healthy, because the other options are ass. As evidenced by the fact Mlod, a pitcher that in 2 previous seasons proved he cant turn over a lineup multiple times. Is in the rotation already
@SkenesNat Or. Just simply put mlod in the bullpen and use anyone that can throw 4 innings as the 5th starter. We already know mlod is a good reliever a mediocre at best starter and you have Harrington in AAA, Barco pitching in a role he's literally never done before in his life.
@PGSportsNow What a brain dead take. If he's a good defensive SS and just an above average hitter at 19 years old, with only 5 years of service time remaining, he'd be justified in asking for 150% of this deal in the offseason
