#TelanganaVimochanaDinotsavam my family participated in the Telangana rebellion and I heard so many stories about the mercenary army of the Nizam (Razakars). Another Bengal style genocide was averted due to the bravery and quick action of our ancestors. Here is my father-in-law with his army that fought the Razakars.

@NalinisKitchen All that property sold in India for 3.2 Cr, is worth 6Cr today.

Also if you had 3.2 Cr in 2023, why the heck didn't you do SIPs and Gold investments. Could have lived on those earnings for years until you found something much better!!

[AC @HinduSanskriti0]

Those issues did not exist in Odisha prior to BJP rule. So, we know where the fault lies.

Three weeks ago, PM Narendra Modi stood in the Knesset and received Israel’s highest parliamentary honor. He called the bond between the two nations unbreakable.

This week, Iran’s ambassador sat in India’s foreign ministry requesting the release of three seized tankers and supplies of medicine in exchange for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for Indian vessels.

India said yes to both.

This is the most consequential diplomatic balancing act on Earth right now and almost nobody is covering it. While every headline tracks missiles and insurance premiums, India is quietly negotiating a parallel channel through the most dangerous chokepoint on the planet. Some Indian vessels, including LPG tankers, have already transited Hormuz safely. Not because the blockade does not apply to them. Because Tehran made a specific, bilateral exception based on what it calls “historical ties.”

The same India that reportedly shared intelligence enabling the US submarine strike that sank the Iranian warship IRIS Dena. Delhi denies it. Tehran has not forgotten the reports.

Modi is running the most aggressive multi-alignment strategy of any major power in 2026. Israel provides defense technology, intelligence partnerships, and the diplomatic cover that comes with being Washington’s closest regional ally. Iran provides 40 percent of India’s crude oil imports via the strait, access to Chabahar Port, and the only viable land corridor to Afghanistan and Central Asia that does not run through Pakistan.

Chabahar is the physical infrastructure of this hedging strategy. A port on Iran’s southeastern coast that India has been developing since 2015 as the entry point for the International North-South Transport Corridor, a 7,200-kilometre multimodal route connecting Mumbai to Moscow that cuts transit time from 40 days via Suez to 25 days at roughly half the cost. India signed a long-term operational agreement for Chabahar in 2024. Then the 2026 Union Budget allocated zero funding for it, reportedly under US sanctions pressure.

India is simultaneously investing in and defunding the same port. Receiving honors from Israel while negotiating tanker releases with Iran. Denying intelligence-sharing while its ships transit a blockade that exists because of the war that intelligence may have enabled.

This is not hypocrisy. This is what 1.4 billion people depending on imported energy during a global chokepoint crisis forces a government to become.

The fertilizer dimension makes it existential. Indian plants are running at 60 percent capacity. The subsidy bill has been revised to 1.86 lakh crore rupees. Delhi asked Beijing for emergency urea on March 12. Beijing banned phosphate exports through August. If the monsoon fails, which Skymet assigns 60 percent probability, India faces a Kharif season crisis of a severity not experienced in decades. The safe-passage channel through Iran is not diplomatic nicety. It is the difference between a managed food situation and a production crisis across the world’s most populous nation.

Every other country in this crisis has chosen a side or been forced onto one. Germany refused to help reopen the strait. Japan declined. Australia declined. China locked down exports. Bangladesh is collapsing. Egypt is hemorrhaging reserves.

India chose not to choose. And so far, it is the only major economy still getting tankers through.

The question is how long the tightrope holds when both sides of it are on fire.

[Peter Girnus 🦅 @gothburz]

I'm a Police Liaison Officer in Toronto.

My job is community relations.

The tow truck community.

I provide information.

To my contacts.

In the towing industry.

They provide information back.

To my bank account.

That's community policing.

My father is also a cop.

He does the same thing.

Family business.

Three generations of service.

To organized crime.

We call ourselves "consultants."

The tow truck guys call themselves "The Union."

52 counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

That's union organizing.

Toronto style.

In 2024, 63 shootings were linked to tow trucks.

That's 13% of all shootings in the city.

From tow trucks.

The things that move your car.

After accidents.

They also cause accidents.

On purpose.

For business.

A single tow can generate $10,000.

Inflated repairs.

Fake physio referrals.

Storage fees at lots 50 kilometers away.

Insurance pays.

Premiums go up.

Everyone pays.

Except us.

We get paid separately.

In cash.

My job was simple.

Someone needs an address.

I run the plate.

Someone needs a cop to look away.

I look away.

Someone needs a corrections officer dead.

I provide the home address.

That's full-service policing.

They showed up at his house.

Three armed men.

Rammed a police cruiser in his driveway.

He survived.

We were disappointed.

But not deeply disappointed.

That came later.

At the press conference.

The Chief said he was "deeply disappointed."

Seven takes.

The first six weren't disappointed enough.

The seventh was perfect.

Authentic.

Rehearsed authentic.

That's the goal.

They seized 169 pounds of cannabis.

And one pound of fentanyl.

From my associates.

Headed to Europe.

That's export business.

We were helping the trade deficit.

They also seized three armored Cadillacs.

Bulletproof.

$150,000 each.

From tow truck operators.

Who tow Hondas.

Nobody asked questions.

We didn't answer them.

The investigation took 400 officers.

To catch 8 officers.

That's a 50-to-1 ratio.

Very efficient.

In 2012, our drug squad planted evidence.

In 2021, a superintendent helped officers cheat on exams.

In 2022, a cop stole from a missing person.

Then tried to flee the country.

That's institutional knowledge.

Passed down.

Generation to generation.

A lawyer sued our tow truck friends.

For insurance fraud.

She won 1,400 cases.

So they burned her office.

Twice.

Then shot it up.

Then tried to assassinate her.

The gun misfired.

The shooter filmed it on his phone.

For quality control.

That's documentation.

She fled the country.

We won.

Law and order lost.

But we are law and order.

So technically we won twice.

A bar opened in Scarborough.

The owner's nephew was a tow truck dispatcher.

Wrong dispatcher.

Wrong union.

On opening night, three men walked in.

With an assault rifle.

Nine people shot.

Three more injured by debris.

Nobody died.

The Chief called it "a miracle."

I call it poor marksmanship.

We'll do better next time.

The shooters were 15 to 22 years old.

Part-time work.

Gig economy.

They weren't tow truck drivers.

Just contractors.

Flexible labor.

The Mayor says the Chief needs to "earn back trust."

He will.

At the next press conference.

With the right level of disappointment.

We're not corrupt officers.

We're "alleged" corrupt officers.

Big difference.

Alleged means innocent.

Until proven.

Proving takes years.

Evidence gets lost.

Witnesses relocate.

To shallow graves.

The Crown dropped charges against one kingpin.

Couldn't reveal a confidential informant.

He went back to towing.

Three months later he was shot dead.

Outside a plaza.

That's street justice.

Also our justice.

Same thing.

Different paperwork.

I'm suspended now.

With pay.

That's accountability.

Canadian style.

The union—our union, the police union—says we'll get "due process."

And "wellness support."

Wellness support means therapy.

For the stress.

Of getting caught.

8,000 officers serve Toronto.

8 were arrested.

That's 0.1%.

One-tenth of one percent.

The Chief said that at the press conference.

Very reassuring.

The other 7,992 are fine.

Probably.

He didn't check.

But the math is comforting.

We're not representative.

Of the service.

We're representative.

Of the service.

That nobody talks about.

Organized crime is corrosive.

That's what the Chief said.

It corroded our service.

From the inside.

Where we work.

For 30 years.

But it's unacceptable.

Now that it's public.

Before that it was acceptable.

Very acceptable.

$5,000 a month acceptable.

The tow trucks are still running.

The turf wars continue.

New players.

New alliances.

Same violence.

We just restructured.

For sustainable growth.

That's community policing.

Toronto style.

The original Epsteen Island

[ArchaeoHistories @histories_arch]

Emperor Tiberius transformed Capri from a peaceful island into his personal execution ground. Roman guards would push 'undesirable' citizens off steep cliffs into the sea below. His sadistic entertainment shocked even his most brutal contemporaries. No one was safe from his twisted games.

The beautiful island of Capri harbored a dark secret during Tiberius's reign. What appeared to be a luxurious imperial retreat was actually a site of systematic murder and psychological terror.

Tiberius, already known for his paranoid and cruel nature, used the island's dramatic cliff formations as a unique method of execution. Imperial guards would select victims - political rivals, suspected traitors, or simply those who displeased the emperor - and push them from great heights into the rocky Mediterranean below.

The executions were not merely punishments but a form of twisted entertainment. Witnesses reported that Tiberius would watch these brutal deaths, finding perverse pleasure in the spectacle of human beings falling to their inevitable doom. The cliff executions became a symbol of imperial power and unchecked brutality.

By 37 AD, Tiberius's reign of terror on Capri had claimed dozens of lives, permanently scarring the island's history with his bloodthirsty legacy of fear and death.

It’s permission.
