#BREAKING: Dr Paul Farmer, a renowned American physician and co-founder of Partners in Health @PIH, has died aged 62.
Farmer was a receipt of the National Order of Outstanding Friendship (Igihango), which he was conferred upon by President #Kagame in August 2019.

With highly transmissible variant, mild re-infections seem common as your antibodies come down (IgA in nose; IgG go into nose) but T cells protective against severe disease
Economists have just won a Nobel prize for developing methods intended to improve causal inference, and a senior biostatistician / epidemiologist is not happy with the constant passing over of their discipline .. but it's 2002 not 2021 .. https://t.co/a6Wj5UYtDw
John Nkengasong, of the Africa C.D.C., Will Lead #PEPFAR; this just a huge pivot from simply a US foreign policy centric approach to HIV to putting emphasis in on the ground results. https://t.co/Yj4dHuTGPa
My career has focused on network and structural inequities in infectious diseases.
Was clear early to be relevant for #COVID19.
If interested, here is a talk where I make the case for this in #HIV speaking between Charlize, Elton John, Prince Harry :)

I was asked today how I would respond to someone who told me that they were planning on travelling for the holiday season.
My answer: non-judgmental individualized concrete plans about how to mitigate risks.
I'm not in business of judging people.
Just not what i signed up for.
About 492,000 sexually active gay & bi men in the US are at risk for #HIV & may benefit from #PrEP but use among gay & bi men remains low.
Increasing PrEP use in populations disproportionately affected by HIV is a key part of the plan to #EndHIVEpidemic. https://t.co/MRa15wb1Hs
