@mean_field_zane This seems like an obvious win. The only remotely feasible way double digit rgdp could happen is if full cheap mass produced robotics with universal autonomous ASI happens like 1-2 years from now. That’s not gonna happen
@MattBruenig Does this even matter? China is on track to mog both Europe and US. Clearly the Chinese model with much lower social funds/redistribution is way better
@arindube Isn’t the issue here just that the AI isn’t good enough yet? Like the situation would be different if it could predict with 100% accuracy as opposed to like 88-92%.
@cojobrien@AlecStapp Correct. This is just native born Americans struggling to cope with the fact they are inferior to foreign born labor forces. They are generally much lazier, much stupider and greedier and in order for America to prosper native born Americans need to accept that fact
@ModeledBehavior It’s true. Unfortunately American workers are extremely unskilled and inferior to most of the world’s labor force. We need foreigners to just maintain parity because of how bad native born Americans are
@CartoonsHateHer It is an indication of one being a less desirable person though and, if it happens enough times, may give one reason to think they are a *very* undesirable individual
@lymanstoneky Is there a reason to let the inferiors exist in society? Do those who leech, are crass, ugly and mean and refuse to change giving any reason to keep them around?
@cremieuxrecueil Yea there’s no reason to think Botswana will be able to magically spin up some new industry from nothing here… plenty of examples show just how hard it is to break into a new space. Especially one that will provide the same kinds of margins diamonds did
@ramez If LLMs are a table saw today, 4 years ago they were barely a nail. There’s no reason to think 4 years from now it can’t become a whole carpenter.
@high_everett@hankgreen At the junior level there is no distinction. The more senior of an engineer you are the longer you’ll have before it can do your job
@ApriiSR@hopes_revenge I mean China would definitely allow state sponsored attacks against the US or its allies 10,000%. Especially if they could do it to steal important IP like EUV manufacturing secrets, etc
@Noahpinion Most employers don't trust AI to run end-to-end without human verification...yet. If/when it crosses that threshold for corporate America is when you would start to see layoffs
@TheZvi There truly seems to be no threshold for some people to be convinced that things like this aren’t “marketing ploys”. Apparently they’ll say that up until they’re being turned into a paperclip
@MsSamanthaHyde@paulnovosad@jmhorp Right which, if you combine that with mens’ propensity for violence seems to conclusively make them the worse sex? Is there any argument against that if the evidence is so overwhelmingly against them?
