Over the last few days, I’ve been thinking a lot about how deeply people responded to honoring Alan this Memorial Day. Millions of people saw his name. Thousands took the time to say it out loud, visit him, leave flowers, share photos, and remind our family that he is not forgotten.
It’s had me wondering whether moments like that could become something lasting for other Gold Star families too.
One idea I keep coming back to is starting the SSG Alan Shaw Foundation and creating something called Legacy Flights. The goal would be simple: helping families of the fallen visit their heroes on important days like Memorial Day, birthdays, angelversaries, and other moments that matter.
When I lost Alan at 26, I was surviving. At 46, I’m finally in a place where I feel like I could build something meaningful. Something rooted in remembrance, family, and legacy. Something that outlives me.
I don’t know exactly what this becomes yet, but I can’t shake the feeling that something even better is going to come from all of this. 🙏♥️
@JedKMeshew@MMAFighting As you say, being a HOSS really is the strongest style. What do you think are plausible strategies, approaches, etc. for success for the smaller athlete in fights with major size mismatches? A broad question, so please take it however you like. Thank you good sir!
@MikeHeck_JR Not trying to defend/justify it, but the context here is Buckley is from St. Louis, and Anheuser-Busch was started in St. Louis back in 1852 and is the city’s (I think) largest and (I know) most iconic commercial organization. It’s still ran is STL tho it was sold for $52 billion

Attention is power and creators harness it better than anyone else.
But most creators are vastly under monetized because they don't understand one thing:
They should pay themselves in equity.
Emily Weiss turned her fashion blog into Glossier (valued at over $1 billion).
Mark Sisson turned his paleo diet blog into Primal Kitchen a food company that he sold to Kraft for $200 million.
Ryan Reynolds used his fame to scale Mint Mobile to a $1.3 billion exit.
I'm using my audience as a creator to scale ConvertKit to $100 million in annual revenue.
The examples are different, but the principles are the same. Creators have so much more potential than they are realizing and I want to fix that.
I'm launching a new podcast called Billion Dollar Creator with @RachRodgersEsq where we teach the principles you should be applying to your business to build lasting equity.
