Today, while in Nairobi South C, a resident approached me with a complaint about a neighbour who had allegedly diverted raw sewage into the stormwater drainage system. The resident explained that the situation becomes even worse when it rains, as the sewage overflows onto the roads.

At the time of my visit, raw sewage was visibly flowing into the drainage system, creating an unbearable stench and posing a serious public health and environmental risk.

I immediately engaged the Nairobi Water and Environment teams and directed them to take urgent action. Anyone found illegally directing raw sewage into the stormwater drainage system must be held accountable.

We cannot allow such irresponsible actions to endanger the health of residents, pollute our environment, and compromise our drainage infrastructure. Appropriate action must be taken to stop this immediately.
