All of us in the UK who are not Jewish - an immense, an overwhelming majority - have a responsibility in these troubled times to make our Jewish fellow-citizens feel valued & safe. A responsibility that clearly right now we are failing to meet. It shames the country.
@robbeckettcomic@BBCRadio2 Was a bit of a goth in high school. My older brothers mate used to say I was a druggy (I wasn’t) We were at a house party and he decided he wanted to try some coke. I “dealt” him a line of washing powder. His eyes nearly popped out of his head. Felt quite bad after.
The Voices Project is an initiative organized by musician Taylor Hanson from the band Hanson, in collaboration with For Women Life Freedom, a non-profit organization that advocates for women’s rights and civil society in Iran.
The project aims to record a new version of “Baraye”, a song by Iranian singer-songwriter Shervin Hajipour that became a protest anthem after the death of Mahsa Amini, a young Iranian woman who died under suspicious circumstances in 2022.
The new version of “Baraye” will feature 16,000 voices from around the world, each representing a political prisoner in Iran, and will set a world record for the most voices on a single musical recording. The project hopes to raise awareness and solidarity for the Iranian people who are oppressed by their government.

A woman is NOT what we choose to wear. It’s our biology & the challenges that comes with it, both socially (eg sexual assault lack of equality etc) & practically (periods, child birth, menopause etc) just for starters. I find it fascinating that LIVING as a woman seems to mean donning a dress, heavy make up & a slight tilt of the head all done with a new name. It’s not. This is a social construct of an old fashioned, outdated stereotype - not being biologically female. A women is an adult human female. There are two sexes & humans cannot change sex. We must stop lying to children & the vulnerable. It’s the opposite of kind. Kind is not telling kids they’re born wrong..
