Two improvements @FIFAWorldCup could make, but won’t. Ban players leaving, or non-players joining the pitch to celebrate a goal. Ban all forms of prayer on the pitch.
@koshercockney Teaching years ago, kids would shout it through my classroom door all day long, despite never having mentioned the Middle East, or that I was Jewish. It was pure Jew hate then, as it is now.
As long as such well meaning but hopelessly uninformed western leaders fund this malign organisation dedicated to maintaining the permanent refugee status of those in Gaza and the delegitimising of Israel, all in the region will continue to suffer the consequences.
The situation in Gaza is desperate. Today the UK is announcing £23m for @UNRWA to deliver vital support including food, water, education and medical support for Palestinian refugees.
There must be more aid, all crossings opened, and humanitarian agencies able to operate safely.
Just got in. It really is so shit that the only options on ITVX right now are to watch the game that’s currently on from the start and have to sit through 45 minutes of crap, or to watch live and miss the first 45 minutes of the game.
@saintdiamond1@Peston But it isn’t gerrymandering, whatever your personal distaste. And it isn’t without a near precedent either. Alec Douglas-Home renounced his Earldom to fight a by-election and serve as PM from the commons. In that case though Gilmour Leburn had managed to die, rather than resign.
One day I’ll be vindicated not for my words, not for my writing, but for my work.
And there will be a gap in that work.
Due to the violent regime of the silencers. When I couldn’t make freely.
But my work, over my life, will tell the history of these times, and my life, and my art.
