Imagine if I said, "I used to watch the Fresh Prince of Bellaire, but I got sad when I noticed the people on the show didn't have the same skin color as me, so I'm working to change that."
i love how we all hate flock cameras because of the obvious reasons (lack of privacy, being used to stalk, soooo many false accusations and arrests) but also the guardrail guy is showing how they will also just kill you bc of how negligently they are installed.
Let me explain the scene before this which makes it not woke.
So Eowyn and Merry are sitting there with the other riders, looking at the battle before them for the first time. They chose to be there. They want to be there. But you can also see the absolute terror in their eyes. They want to be there, but they would also rather be literally anywhere else.
And then they ride forward.
Eowyn is not some proud girl boss. She is not even trying to be the greatest warrior there. She simply wants to stand with the others who refuse to let evil win. She isn't confident. She is terrified. She knows she will most likely die there. She gets her ass kicked. She gets a lucky shot at the Witch King because Merry helped her and she refused to give up. And after she wins she collapses.
This woman is not some infallible Mary Sue like many modern female characters. You can see the doubt and fear in her. She does not win the battle. She doesn't even save her uncle. But she takes a stand when she is terrified. That is a character anyone, man or woman, can appreciate.
“Maybe McConnell isn’t dead”
Totally possible.
In which case he is either mentally incapacitated or unconscious.
An 80+ year old man, does not bounce back from cardiac arrest, CPR and 3 weeks in hospital.
That cover-up would be just as immoral, as his staff have an obligation to file his resignation if he is unfit to serve.
The 3-month survival rate for 80 year olds who had a cardiac arrest is less than 3%.
Of those, many never regain self-sufficient function.
He is either gone, has one foot out the door or is unfit to be in the Senate.
And just like with Feinstein, pretending it isn’t the case, serves no one.
It is time for Congress to demand his resignation OR to verify a proof of life and function.
Flashback to when Sean Strickland accepted a fight request from influencer Sneako and beat the piss out of him
“As we get closer to the three-minute mark, you’re going to feel a significant amount of pain … You’re about to have a really bad f*cking day.”
In the Abolition of Man, CS Lewis wrote about the “irredeemable urban blockhead.”
“He is usually spiritually impoverished, often stunted in imagination. He is one who has been taught to mindlessly debunk anything that smacks of sentiment or philosophy or moral reasoning. In short, he has learned to be rationalistic without being truly rational.”
He was describing Louis CK.
I keep seeing large tech companies discussing the dangers of AI and AI models. They think regular people should not be able to possess AI or AI models, or be able to run them on home computers. In essence, they're too dangerous for a regular person to possess.
It is for our safety that Google, Meta, OpenAI, Anthropic, Palantir, X, etc have AI models but we don't. They are protecting us by paying them $19.99/month. If we don't let them control the AI stuff then someone could do bad things with it.
They care about protecting the people. They are definitely not doing it to make more money and collect more data from consumers. Large tech companies would not use their money to influence politicians and government to make more money and fearmonger
