- On most blockchains (like Bitcoin or Ethereum), every major change requires a hard fork, basically a system-wide software update that all nodes must install.

- It’s slow, risky, and hard to coordinate.

It can upgrade itself in consensus, meaning all nodes agree and update automatically, without needing any manual downloads or downtime.
