@DBurkland@Tesla Thanks but that defeats the purpose. I don't want to lose the perpetual, paid-in-full, FSD license by migrating to the Luxe FSD license which would not persist when I sell down the road or, more importantly, if they allow transfers to a new purchase down the road again.
Need some clarity from @Tesla / the community because I’m getting completely conflicting answers from a rep…
I currently own a 2024 Model X with Full Self-Driving purchased in full. I’m considering ordering a new 2026 Model X that comes with the Luxe package (bundled FSD).
Goal: transfer my already-purchased, transferable FSD license to the new vehicle so it remains tied to the car for future resale value (or transfer should the option exist again), instead of ending up with a non-transferable bundled version.
One message says the transfer replaces bundled FSD. Another says transfers aren’t possible because Luxe already includes FSD.
So which is it?
If you already own FSD outright and buy a Luxe Model X:
• Does your transferable FSD override the bundled one?
• Or are you forced into the non-transferable Luxe FSD?
• What happens to resale long term?
Would really appreciate clear guidance here because this directly impacts whether I place the order before the March 31 transfer deadline.

@Guylouis@Tesla Thanks but that doesn’t solve for my issue. I do not want to forfeit the ability to have the license persist if sold one day or forfeit the ability to transfer to another Tesla down the road should they allow transfers again post 3/31 (as they’ve done on/off for years)

@NotATeslaApp@Tesla Luxe FSD is A downgrade from outright purchased FSD given its lack of transferability and Tesla doesn’t allow you to purchase an X or S without Luxe while also not letting you transfer an existing license to it. Literally absurd.
@NotATeslaApp@Tesla BUT, if I were to transfer FSD from my 2024 X right now to a 2026 3 or Y, it would stick with that vehicle regardless of whether I sell it down the road or transfer to new vehicle if that is a promo again.
@NotATeslaApp@Tesla If I proceed, I lose the ability to either:
A) sell the 2026 down the road with FSD still attached for new buyer, lowering value
Or
B) transfer FSD to a newer model from the 2026 year down the road should they ever allow transfers again
@NotATeslaApp@Tesla The goal was to purchase a 2026 X and transfer FSD from my 2024 X. Doing so would have provided me with a reset on warranty, new battery, UL supercharging, etc. More importantly, personal tax situation makes this a net zero transaction for me. 1/2

@NotATeslaApp@Tesla Appreciate it but don't think it's going to happen now given this...
Absurd that they are essentially blocking me from transferring a license I already paid for to their most expensive model, yet, I could do it on a base model 3. Terrible customer service.
@S100Dfan@Tesla@Tesla is going to miss out on a sale entirely because of this. They just called me noting that I can't even buy the X without the Luxe package. Guess I'll join you in the "bad taste" club.
This further affirms that they really do not want anyone to own FSD licenses anymore.
@NotATeslaApp@Tesla Totally agree re: minor differences, but TL;DR - complicated to explain over X but it makes more sense financially from a tax perspective, costing less in the long run in comparison than keeping my existing X.
@hletes It’s prompting for that after any drive staring at sun but also just had cleaning service done a few weeks back. Haven’t reset DAS but will give that a try!
