Growth is good but not all growth is good. I think most Texans would prefer to attract people who embrace our values instead of third worlders who reject our culture and gravitate towards ethnic and cultural enclaves.
Unfortunate fact: The only way prices (other than oil) are coming "down" is if we put the economy in a recession. A recession kills demand. Gross receipts start dropping like a rock. Businesses start to panic as they start to lose money. They start laying off people to cut expenses and try to stay afloat. Those people now have no income and demand gets suppressed even more. Eventually businesses start cutting prices drastically to bring in some income, any income, even if they have to sell at a loss. Viola, Inflation is tamed and prices come down.
But how many politicians are willing to pay that price? How many average people are willing to pay that price?
Now you know why it's so hard to break the inflation spiral. The price people have to pay to break inflation is insanely harsh and generally speaking both politicians and the public will always be unwilling to do what is necessary to bring down prices... so we will just keep hearing people complain about high prices but in reality no one is prepared to make the hard choice that would actually cure the problem.
RUSH LIMBAUGH: "Liberals measure compassion by how many people are given welfare.
Conservatives measure compassion by how many people no longer need it."
@ArneriDesign Highly impactful findings and very interesting delays in publication…..originally submitted in November 2024, not accepted for publication until February of 2026 and finally published in June of 2026. Hmmmm
I’m done honouring the rights of antivaxxers to express their ignorant and malicious opinions. They need to be charged with spreading dangerous health disinformation. We’ve been treating them like they’re mildly amusing.
