当然，关于移民政策，各国可以持不同意见。但不可否认的是，欧洲各地的选民正在用选票表达不满——英国选择了脱欧，越来越多的国家转向支持承诺控制移民的政治领导人。

民主的核心：倾听人民的声音

我们必须明白，民主的核心是人民的声音，而不是政府对选民的压制。无论是在美国、德国，还是整个欧洲，民主不会因为言论自由而崩溃，而会因为封锁民意、忽视选民诉求而土崩瓦解。

美国可以接受十年间被格蕾塔·通贝里批评，欧洲也应该能够接受埃隆·马斯克的一些言论。但民主绝不能接受政府剥夺公民表达自身诉求的权利。告诉数百万选民，他们的想法无关紧要，是最危险的做法。

民主的神圣原则在于人民的声音不可忽视。欧洲领导人现在有一个选择：要么倾听公民的呼声，顺应民意治理国家，要么继续压制异见，最终失去选民的信任。

正如教皇约翰·保罗二世曾说过：“不要害怕。” 让我们怀揣信念，共同面对未来的挑战。
