Those celebrating the Shah's return as Iran's salvation would do well to ask why Iranians overthrew him in the first place, and why so many of those same people, despite everything that followed, still don't want him back.
Anyone who has visited Iran in the last few years knows that the Islamic Republic is widely and deeply despised. But it would be a mistake to assume that rejection of the current regime translates into nostalgia for the Shah or his circle.
It's also worth noting that a significant portion of Iranian society remains religious or semi-religious—people who may want the current system reformed rather than dismantled, or who would resist a return to secular monarchy on cultural and ideological grounds.
This is absolute nonsense. If the state were earnest about prosecution, they would have become a party to the case to prevent such settlement. Bashing vulnerable victims for choosing a settlement over a multi-decade legal battle is a cop-out.
“Respected Madam,
The complainant of the case in Bhati gate manhole incident has effected compromise with the accused. Husband of the deceased (Ghulam Murtaza) has taken 85 lacs, and father (Sajid) has taken 25 lacs.
The court has granted them bail.
For kind info pl.”
I rest my case.
It’s almost cute how @AlexGriffing—Israel’s loudest PR intern—has been waiting in the wings for his little shot at @TaylorLorenz. Man finally gets the mic and all he manages is a hollow smear wrapped in projection.
Lmao this is such a desperate spin. You could’ve voted for the amendment and still noped out of the final bill. Don’t start scrambling now just because your original excuse is falling apart.
Google is free. If you’re saying I voted for military funding, you are lying. Receipts attached.
Drag me for my positions all you want, but lying about them doesn’t make you part of the “left.”
If you believe neo-nazis are welcome and operating in good faith, you can have them!
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s amendment does nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of US munitions being used in Gaza. Of course I voted against it.
What it does do is cut off defensive Iron Dome capacities while allowing the actual bombs killing Palestinians to continue.
I have long stated that I do not believe that adding to the death count of innocent victims to this war is constructive to its end. That is a simple and clear difference of opinion that has long been established.
I remain focused on cutting the flow of US munitions that are being used to perpetuate the genocide in Gaza.
