“It means so much to me personally because my father is of the generation that saw the original Godzilla 1952 film in theaters as a kid. And then getting to play a woman in the 1950s and getting to talk to him about, Oh, do you think like she would talk like this? Like, you know, how she would respond and like what that time period was like was like really special.

In the American films, I think there's different ways to approach these monsters, right? Like in Japan, it's with Minus One as well, you saw, it really, really went back to the origin of the character. And to be able to merge the two, the American perspective and the Japanese perspective in this show is really like exciting to me. We haven't seen a Japanese character like this before in Hollywood, especially when I first read the script. I thought, is this allowed? Like a Japanese woman can be in like the center of a Hollywood classic film, right?”
