@SiouxSide Whitecloud and Zary for a mid-first pick might be worth it, but I doubt any team actually goes for that. We're better off holding him. A team might get desperate mid-season and overpay. Right now his value as a mentor outweighs any weak return. + he actually wants to play here
@SiouxSide Keeping him to mentor the new kids is worth more than this return in my opinion, especially since we need fewer NHL contracts to make room for the kids to come. We are maxed right now. He has more value now to the flames than what we would get in a trade, wait until the deadline
William Nylander to Sharks for picks #2 #9 #27 and next year's 1st
#nhl
Who says no? Leafs on track for a great rebuild. Sharks are a deep playoff team.
@MillerJohnny@CofRedCentral Airdrie is missing a 5,000-8,000-seat arena based on it's population. The venue would be a massive economic and cultural driver— home for high-level hockey while serving as a hub for concerts, rodeos, and major regional events. #airdrie#alberta
It will get traffic from Calgary
I wonder if the Leafs would bite on Calgary’s 6th, 28th, 35th, 36th, and 51st picks for the 1st overall? It gives Toronto an elite future D-man at 6 which they need and loads them up with long-term draft capital. Or what about the 6th, 28th, 35th, 36, plus Zach Whitecloud?
@lyndonkaleb Watching the kids compete was fun. A few more losses in 2014 could have landed us Draisaitl or Reinhart. It’s a trade-off: short-term enjoyment vs building for the future. Was it fun to win a few? Yes
But we’d be better off now if we’d just lost a few more this year? Maybe
@Tawdge@skrenkthetank What if he doesn't want to stay? The rumors are that he wants to move to a contender. Could be untrue but if it is, then what?
I completely agree with: sign a veteran or 2 to a one-year deal instead. We could even maybe flip them at the deadline next year for more assets.
@Tawdge@skrenkthetank Yep I think so too
Turning that trade down was a huge mistake
I could be wrong but that's what my gut says, the contract is too big.
@JaredLJorgenson Kadri to #GoHabsGo for a bucket of pucks.
Don't get me wrong; great Flames player and a great guy, will help the Habs! For the Flames he risks ruining our draft odds and creates cap and possible locker room friction later by not being moved to a contender. #Flames
