@unsafebl0ck@KaleckiWasRight@daniel_w_owens Rents are never going to reach $1800 for a 1 bedroom in San Francisco. They didnโt drop that low during the height of the exodus during 2020-2021, they dropped down to about $2200-$2400 and we had insanely high vacancy rates. Also again, weโre a 7x7 ocean front peninsula
Artificial intelligences do not undergo experiences, do not possess a body, do not feel joy or pain, do not mature through relationships, and do not know from within what love, work, friendship or responsibility mean. Nor do they have a moral conscience, since they do not judge good and evil, grasp the ultimate meaning of situations, or bear responsibility for consequences. They may imitate or even simulate, but they do not understand what they produce, for they lack the affective, relational, and spiritual perspective through which human beings grow in wisdom. #MagnificaHumanitas
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens Seattle and Barcelona also have severe affordability crisises with the young service workers and artists mostly unable to afford places to live, just like SF. Do you even know anyone in these cities or are you just reading developer propaganda?
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens They were permitted for occupancy and they could have been sold individually but they sold off the entire development instead. Does that speak to a market that needs more luxury condo complexes?
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens I am not missing the point, youโre refusing to accept some basic facts. Adding in any and all housing does not do anything to improve the quality of life or housing stability for the artists and culture makers of San Francisco, whom the original tweet was about.
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens And surrounding boroughs only dropped by 2%. You can compare apples to grapes all you like, but itโs not an apt comparison
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens I addressed this earlier, Austin has 320 sq miles of land, SF is a 49 sq mile peninsula. We are not able to add a meaningful number of housing projects that leads to meaningful rent decrease. Which is why Manhattan is a more apt comparative, and Manhattan rents did not drop.
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens either because they donโt provide adequate housing. Iโm all for building projects that are multi family and are affordable. But adding more market rate condos that nobody lives in doesnโt add up.
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens This isnโt about home ownership. This is about creating rentals for low and middle income folks. Affordable housing. Also, building high rises on ocean front sand dunes in earth quake country is exactly why SF wonโt become manhattan. Building single family homes isnโt the answer
@unsafebl0ck@daniel_w_owens This might be true for Phoenix and Austin where youโre able to sprawl, but there is never going to be a statistically significant quantity of housing to meaningfully lower rents in a city that is 7x7 and surrounded by water. NYC only saw rents decrease by 2% in outter boroughs
@dykeprinc3ss@afroxbabyyy I mean you can call yourself a vegetarian and eat a hamburger but youโre not really a vegetarian if youโre eating a hamburger, like be forreal
I just wrote 5 different 10 page papers without chatGPT or any AI tool. I had an entire university library at my disposal, the fuck do I need ChatGPT for?
"There's no way you can write a ten page paper without chatGPT"
WE COULD LITERALLY DO EVERYTHING THAT EVER HAPPENED IN HUMAN HISTORY WITHOUT CHATGPT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.
