God favors smallness, a sign of his discreet love, by which he leaves us free to accept or reject him. His love makes its presence felt even among the weeds, acts in a hidden and invisible way like the smallest of all seeds, and leavens the dough without making a sound. #GospelOfToday (Mt 13:24–43)
There is nothing new under the sun.
“Though all heretics wish to be called Catholics, yet when a stranger asks where the Catholic Church meets, no heretic will venture to point to his own chapel or house.”
St. Augustine, Against the Fundamental Letter of Mani (Ch. 4, §5)
“Brother, if you commit a sin and take pleasure in it,the pleasure passes but the sin remains. But if you do something virtuous, even though you are tired, the tiredness passes but the virtue remains.”
Saint Camillus de Lellis, M.I.

Five reasons to never consider ferritin alone a marker of iron status:
1) No one knows where serum ferritin comes from. It contains almost no iron and ferritin experts have no idea why it is released into the serum or from what tissue.
2) While it correlates with bone marrow biopsy iron stores, the correlation is only sufficient to say that if your ferritin is normal your iron stores are probably reasonably normal and nothing more than that.
3) About 10% of the population has genetics for iron overload and these actually *decrease* ferritin storage of iron, which is part of how they cause disease, by increasing free iron. The only reason extremely high ferritin is found in people diagnosed with hemochromatosis is because they are diagnosed decades after the damage has started.
4) Ferretin increases in response to oxidative stress and inflammation, and this *hurts* iron availability and even causes anemia. This means you can have high ferritin and simultaneously be anemic due to poor iron utilization.
5) When you measure it alone, you are looking at a painting where the painter only used his first brush. When you measure iron saturation, CBC, soluble transferrin receptor, and markers of oxidative stress and inflammation, you get the whole picture.

This is the future of Protestantism by the way
65% of all Protestants in the world are Pentecostals, who purport things such as gibberish tongues, being ‘slain in the spirit’ (see this video), faith healing, continued prophecy, prosperity gospel and plenty of trinitarian heresies.
They’re also strictly anti-creed, meaning they take solo scripture to its logical end by denying all church history, councils and creeds.
Pentecostalism grows at about 2% per year, entirely in the third world, while traditional Protestantism in the West has shrunk by up to 75% since WW2 depending on the denomination.
So when someone says “dude not all Protestants”, well, it’s most. And when they say “dude Protestantism is growing”, well, it’s this type of Protestantism.
232 years ago today, 16 humble Catholic Carmelite Nuns effectively put an end to the French Revolution’s Godless reign of terror in France.
How did they do it?
They died singing praises to the Lord and shattered the atheistic delusion that has overwhelmed the psyche of a nation
Orwell's most brilliant observation in "Nineteen Eighty-Four" was that reducing a person's vocabulary also reduces his capacity to think.

Someone said “nothing of value was lost”
That is not the way God sees it.
Something of value is always lost when someone’s despair leads to this.
The thing about the radical love Jesus called us to is that despite what one’s lifestyle is, one must will their good.
It has no conditions.
Yes, you are called to love people who sin. God loves you while you are a sinner.
It should cause grief and sadness that a soul in such despair reached a point of throwing away the gift of life because they didn’t understand what their suffering meant and didn’t know Jesus.
Rather than triumphantly celebrate or dismiss such people, it should be looked at with disappointment in ourselves that we could not reach her and show her the love of Jesus.
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy.
@HakureiRyan@Yapman1 One person actively repenting and wanting to become a better person
vs
One who does not care about goodness or becoming holy, is unrepentant, and is only using God’s house to pick up women.

“The more you abandon to God the care of all temporal things, the more He will take care to provide for all your wants; but if, on the contrary, you try to supply all your own needs, Providence will allow you to continue to do just that, and then it may very well happen that even necessities will be lacking, God thus reproving you for your lack of faith and reliance on him.”
St. Jean-Baptist de La Salle
I believe the Shroud of Turin was forged by a medieval artist. I believe he chose a very expensive linen cloth to wow only the very few who would notice, matched the Gospel accounts in extraordinary detail, rejected the artistic conventions of his own time in many ways for the only known time in history, depicted crucifixion with striking anatomical realism, used real blood or blood-derived material instead of simply painting the wounds, created an unremarkable faint image whose most remarkable property would not be recognized until photography revealed it as a negative more than five centuries later, embedded three-dimensional image information that would only be discovered with modern image analysis, produced an image so superficial that modern microscopy still can’t explain it, anticipated details that align perfeclty with modern forensic understanding of crucifixion, executed the entire work without mistakes or corrections on a valuable cloth, he nailed it without error in one shot, invented a technique that no one has convincingly reproduced, left no record of how he did it, inspired no known followers, and did it to wow only us centuries later as nobody viewing the work at the time would even see it for what it is, and then disappeared from history without anyone ever mentioning the greatest technical achievement of medieval art.
