The last day of #NationalHedgerowsWeek & we've saved the best news till last!
Our @TheHedgeHunters decided to make a series of children’s story books to illustrate the animals & creatures that rely on Hedgerows, what are the problems they face and what we can do about it (1/4)
We have worked with young people since the start to co-create & inform the academic team re best practice. Involvement evolved over time, allowing knowledge to grow & relationships to bloom. Parts of @TheHedgeHunters project are now completely youth-led (5/5)
Engaging young people in environmental action can:
1) Engage and harness their skills
2) Invest in youth led solutions and
3) Give young people a seat at the table (4/5)
See the World Economic Forum on 3 ways to to engage young people:

Second, involving communities in environmental citizen science can create social capitol & a common goal towards taking collective action
It can also start to build pro environmental behaviours and relationships when we stop to immersive and engage with nature (2/5)
Engaging communities in #NationalHedgerowWeek
Why do we want to engage communities & young people in @TheHedgeHunters project? A thread on why doing this is best practice:
1st, we need to check our AI model against real data to ensure it's correctly ID'ing hedgerows/gaps (1/5)
Throughout the week we’re going to be introducing you to the project and detailing how you can get involved. To start, our young people from @TheHedgeHunters have been working on a brilliant Zine to introduce you to all things hedgerow https://t.co/glWhPpjXEd (3/4)
#NationalHedgerowWeek is back! I can unashamedly chat hedge all week :)
The poll was close enough that I think I will just try to talk about everything hedge
So here goes - a #PracticalHedge thread 🧵
I'll talk about each stage of a hedge lifecycle
