I agree with this. No character has any development throughout the plot (if there even is one). It is a montage of big action scenes with some humor weaved into it.
All of the amusement is in seeing the unexpected cameos of other Nintendo IP. Still fun, I guess.
Jeremy Jahns on The Super Mario Galaxy Movie:
"The Super Mario Galaxy movie is a montage of Nintendo nostalgia bait on screen. That's the actual plot. ... The music in the movie has a better plot than the movie. This movie is just Super Mario Bros.-esque scenario, Easter egg that goes with it. Rinse and repeat. ...
It feels like it has too many branches of an overly convoluted one. ... Super Mario Galaxy movie feels like they thought they were making a Super Mario Galaxy coloring book. ...
The Super Mario Galaxy movie is fun for kids, but well, the parents got to stay and watch it with them if they want to be responsible. If you're smart you can pass it off to the babysitter."
Do you plan on seeing it?
@BackwardsFeet My oldest (11yo) started it, but only because I suggested it. There's a tv show in development for Disney+ so I expect a resurgence in popularity.

@FrNickOFMConv I LITERALLY JUST INSTALLED THIS.
I used the free trial in the past, and last night I paid for the full version. It's a complete game changer.
My furnace died.
HVAC tech said repair costs would be thousands of dollars and not worth it and quoted a new unit at $10k.
AI said it was likely the capacitor. It was $10.51. It worked.
AI just saved me $10k. Total victory.
