This Saturday, November 26th, we’ll be hosting the final edition of the Mengi Mengi Film Club. This edition’s theme is “Mafunzo ya dunia” and is an all-Kenyan affair! Featuring @FilmLetter by @maialekow and @chris_m_king254
The issue isn’t even those who commit the violence against the elderly, but those who watch in silence knowing it’s wrong but failing to act. Watch @TheLetterKenya for a broader insight into the problem @maialekow
IPAEA doc film screenings are back! Join us 19:30pm at
@AlchemistBar254 on 22 March for @TheLetterKenya. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with directors @maialekow & @chris_m_king254. Event is free & open to everyone!
I watched this movie, The Letter. Absolutely brilliant. Brilliant! Sensitive, colorful, engaging... And the women of the story are just... Amazing. Very well done.
The Letter is a beautiful African story the way we like it: tensions around power and authenticity, and layers of generations. Set in the different Kenyan spaces with all the competing loyalties.
I loved it.

The Letter is a metaphor or how we use spirituality to assert power but also confidence in our humanity. Those were the tensions at play, and a 95-year old woman and her daughters stood up for the latter. With a quiet brilliance. And a young man was the key witness.

My favorite scene was the scene where ther were people praying to the same God but on different sides. It was brilliant. Like the battle of the gods of Elijah. I was amused.
@TheLetterKenya should be a caution against (city) people using the bible to assert power. #NBOFilmFest
@iNduati @Nyash88 @NBOFilmFest#theLetter will be screening again on the 13th for the screening extravaganza - along with all the other films on the program.
#TheLetterKe doesn’t just tell a story about one lady that was victimized, but sheds a light on those that continue to be at risk. Elders at Kaya Godoma haven’t seen their families for yrs, living in fear of their lives. Protect our elders, respect our elders #WatunzeWazee
Best thing I've watched this week 👏 good job @TheLetterKenya@NBOFilmFest I think the killing of old people in Kisii under the guise of witchcraft should also be documented
@NBOFilmFest@TheLetterKenya Just finished watching and my heart is heavy for the entire family.
This is why we need to heal past wounds... grandma didn't want to get married, the uncle is a boy whose mothers' death and father's remarrying caused a lot of pain and trauma.
