A shocking realization during the pandemic is the lack of political leaders capable of independent thinking with information from multiple sources. They talk and follow each other. Herd thinking at the highest level. That is dangerous.
I watched hundreds of students graduating last week. What struck me was how few of them had normal weight, most of them were overweight, often obese. These are people in their early 20s! This is the true pandemic, culminating in 20 or so years.

In this thread, I want to share a fascinating historical episode I discovered while researching Ravenous (just released in paperback https://t.co/yp4YVkbrcF).
One World Government… countries that don’t impose vaccine passports, quarantine camps, forced vaccination and lockdowns will face sanctions… only 2/3s of members must agree for this to pass
Getting chocolate ready for my kids’ egg hunt and wondering whether to add these #Kinder eggs my dad sent some weeks ago. 150 cases across whole Europe associated with #salmonella look statistically too low to me to panic.
Any #statistician to help here?
Finally an explanation! I didn’t get it why all schools, public institutions and many businesses got closed tomorrow for an amber warning storm in our area - as we have a few of those every winter.

Fear is easy to stoke and difficult to quell, and the end result is rarely pretty. Pandemic responses built on fear were misguided. Those in power who pushed for them because they were afraid themselves, failed in their leadership duties; those who weren't afraid, failed morally.
Still shaken from a funeral: Man, 40s, healthy, slim, sporty, cardiac arrest, #VaccineDeath.
Adding to #VaccineInjury: 1/ woman, 40s, myocarditis; 2/ man, 40s, stroke. Both previously healthy.
My circle has been hit badly. (I know none who died of Covid.) Is this the #NewNomal?
I wonder how different our approach to school closures would have been had there not been an option of 'remote learning'.
By harbouring the lie that screens could replace school it gave false legitimacy to those arguing for prolonged and repeated school closures.
I’m glad restrictions are going but my overriding feeling tonight is one of sadness.
Even if I thought we were totally in the clear, which I don’t, a flirtation with medical apartheid is not something which can easily be unseen.
2022 is a universe away from 2019.
@UsforThemUK Am I right, Pagel doesn’t have children?
So many childless people in her (and my) age group are utterly oblivious to the lives / needs of children. Together with the 60+ group (with children out of house / out of sight).
I had not thought care for the young would be so fragile.
When vaccinated, healthy students protest in person education it just means the machine of media fear-mongering has won (in this liberal bubble location)
Their future, health and life course is much better off with in person school.
@Sherelle_E_J I'm more interested in the fact that they felt safe to be at a party, they weren't acting like they had it, or worried that cup of coffee would cost lives etc. They had a reasonable understanding of their risk while conveying an entirely different sense of risk to the population.

We are dumbfounded to see Government are about to require masks in classrooms again. Kids faces should never be used as political pawns.
This is a declaration of war against children.
@lensiseethrough What about the government asks everyone over 65 to mask themselves for hours five days a week? … Oh, that would be discrimination. Yet, singling out children and students goes. It’s impossible to teach, really teach in masks. I know it first hand.
I very rarely ask for RTs, but this deserves to be watched by as many as possible.
Stop punishing the kids, it’s unscientific and it’s morally WRONG.
We know what you really think @BorisJohnson ,end this madness.
#NoMasksInClass
@statsjamie Now I finally understand why my neighbour looked at me as if I was telling her the earth is flat when I said all data show Omicron is mild and there is little to fear… I see Markie can reach a new low every day. Well done, @statsjamie
